Is nursing a pain in the neck?
Hi 👋! I’m Dr. Megan, certified perinatal and pediatric chiropractor, and these are the exercises I did daily as a nursing mom 🤱 in Johnston! (And still do!)
Upper back/neck stretch: anchor your arm with your opposite hand behind your back and lean your head to the side, then look down to stretch the back, then look up to target the front. Hold each for 30 seconds.
Doorway stretch: hold your shoulders and elbows at 90 degrees in a touchdown position. Step through and hold for 30 seconds. (Can also be performed in a corner.)
Wall angel: stand with your body completely flat against a wall and slide your arms and hands up and down like a snow angel. It’s okay if your hands don’t touch at first, but the goal is to get there. Avoid arching your back/lifting your butt to get your arms back further. (Can also be performed on the floor, which you may find easier with gravity helping to hold your arms down 🙃).
