Acne Scarring Treatment Spotlight: SkinPen Microneedling

Acne may be gone, but the scars can stick around for years. SkinPen microneedling is one of my favorite treatments for improving the appearance of acne scars by stimulating your body’s natural collagen and elastin production.

How does it work?
✔ Creates thousands of controlled micro-channels in the skin
✔ Triggers your body’s natural wound-healing response

What to expect:
• Most patients need a series of treatments for optimal results
• Improvements continue for months as new collagen develops

For acne scarring, I typically recommend a series of 4-10 treatments spaced about 4–6 weeks apart. While many patients notice smoother skin after their first session, the most significant improvements are usually seen after completing a series and allowing time for collagen remodeling.

✨ THE TOX TIMELINE ✨

Two of the most common concerns I hear:

😳 “What if I’m too frozen?”
😩 “Why do I have movement already?”

The truth? Both can be completely normal.

📅 Days 1–7
Your tox is gradually kicking in. You may notice movement becoming more limited each day.

📅 Weeks 2–3
Peak results. This is when tox is typically at its strongest and tightest. If you’ve ever worried you look “too frozen,” this is usually the point where you’re seeing the maximum effect.

📅 Week 4
Everything starts settling into a more natural balance. You’ll still have a smooth appearance, but the result often feels less “tight” than it did at peak effect.

📅 Weeks 6–8
Movement begins to return. This is where many patients start messaging me asking if their tox is wearing off.

The answer? Yes—and that’s exactly what it’s supposed to do.

Tox is not permanent. The goal is not to completely eliminate movement forever. A little movement returning at 6–8 weeks is normal and expected.

📅 Around 3 Months
Most patients are back near their baseline and ready for maintenance treatment if they choose.

✨ The takeaway:
If you feel a little too frozen at first, give it time.
If you notice some movement at 6–8 weeks, that’s normal too.

The best tox results aren’t about looking frozen—they’re about softening lines while still looking like yourself.
