BOTTEICHER - Kevin Wayne, 59, of Richland Township. Surrounded by loved ones in his home, Kevin went to be with the Lord on Thursday, August 27th, 2026, after a courageous battle with lung cancer. Born on January 27th, 1967, in Johnstown, Kevin was the son of James Botteicher and Ruth Killinger.

Preceded in death by Father James Botteicher and his wife Marsha; paternal grandparents, Ralph and Nellie Botteicher; maternal grandparents Wilbert and Blanche Blough, Uncle Ralph "Butch" Botteicher Jr.; sisters, Tina and Karen Botteicher; former stepfather Robert "Rusty" Killinger; and lifelong best friend Shawn Toth.

Kevin is survived by his loving wife, Melissa; mother, Ruth Killinger; siblings, Timothy Botteicher (Carol), Rebekah Gehosky (Jeremy), Toby Allen, Kevin Allen (Mandy), Annette Martinez, Tanya Allen; daughters, Justine Botteicher (Keith Myers), Amber Siciliano (Joseph), Brittany Hybki, Kiara DiFalco, Colleen Stroscio (Michael) and Sheena Reynolds; sons, Kyle Pollino (Ashley), and Travis Hybki; grandchildren Anthony, Angelina, Giovanni, Joey, Helena, Tailor, Alayliah, Massiano, Taylor, Skyla, Carly, Kayden, Blake, Alydia, Rayah, Xzavier, Mason, Brayden, Nolan, Annabella, Liam, Kennedy, Soleia, Tallah, Shayley, Kylah, Preston, Sawyer, and Shaianne; great-grandchildren, Wesley and Cooper; several nieces, nephews, and many friends.

During the span of his 20 years of employment at D. Edwards in Windber, where he was treated like family, he was a truck driver and performed many other roles.

Kevin was a dedicated volunteer fireman, for multiple fire departments, for a period of time extending nearly 35 years. He achieved the role of Assistant Chief during his time at Ideal Fire Department and finished his fire career at Conemaugh Township Volunteer Fire Department.

Kevin enjoyed many hobbies including outdoor activities, working on vehicles, and racing at Jennerstown Speedway.

Family and friends will be received at Baker Funeral Chapel in East Conemaugh, PA, from 11:00 AM-2:00 PM and 4:00 PM-8:00 PM on Friday, September 4th, 2026. Funeral service will be held at Beulah United Methodist Church on Saturday, September 5th, 2026 at 10:00 AM with the funeral procession to Mount Hope Cemetery in South Fork for Internment to follow.

Ronald James Ledwich

February 23, 1950 – August 28, 2026

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Ronald J. Ledwich, who went to be with the Lord on August 28, 2026. Ron passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family. He was born on February 23, 1950, in Johnstown, the son of the late Stanley and Marion (Sedlemyer) Ledwich.

Ron is survived by his wife of 55 years, Joann (Zupancic) Ledwich; his daughter, Dr. Lindsay Ledwich, and her husband, Craig Fleishauer, of West Hampton, PA, along with their sons, Craig P. and Christian J.; and his son, Ronald Ledwich Jr., and his wife, Shannon (Black) Ledwich, of Marietta, GA, along with their son, Luke O. Ledwich. He is also survived by his siblings — brothers Stanley (Dolores Wilt) of Manheim, PA, Leonard (Margaret Weaver) of Johnstown, PA, Richard (Kathleen Simon) of Lanham, MD, and Kenneth (Winnie Sprague) of Brogue, PA; and sister Judith Petrovcic (the late Jack) of Davidsville, PA — as well as his late sister, Mary Lancaster, of North Carolina. He is also survived by his brothers-in-law, John (Nina Leftwich) Zupancic of LaPlata, MD, and Edward Zupancic (Jeanne Kuhn) of Johnstown, PA, and his special sister-in-law, Marian Morgan (Dr. Owen Morgan), also of Johnstown, PA, along with numerous nieces and nephews. Ron shared a very special and caring relationship with his mother-in-law, the late Eva Zupancic.

Ron attended Penn State University, where he majored in Mining Engineering. His career began with 16 years at Bethlehem Steel Corporation and Bethlehem Mines. He later graduated from Mercy Hospital School of Nursing and worked as a registered nurse for 22 years for the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, retiring from SCI Greene in Waynesburg, PA. Ron was also an Army National Guard veteran and a past member of American Legion Post 849.

Ron met the love of his life, Joann, at Franklin High School in Franklin, PA, in 1969 — a note passed gently in the hallway marked the start of a love that endured through five decades of marriage. He was a devoted member of Immaculate Conception Church in Washington, PA.

Ron had a love for music from a young age. He picked up the guitar at 16 and played in a pop band during his high school years, continuing to play throughout his life and filling the house with music that everyone in the family loved to hear — he later taught his son, Ron Jr., to play as well. He rode his motorcycle for hours, savoring the freedom of the open road, and cherished his two antique cars, spending countless hours working on them. Gardening was another passion, though his efforts were regularly thwarted by the neighborhood deer, who ate everything he planted — he'd "bless" them every morning when he found them visiting his plants again. Ron was a gifted handyman who arrived with his toolbox and rarely met a repair he wouldn't tackle for anyone who needed help. He and Joann also relished traveling, visiting numerous countries together.

Above all, his grandsons were the center of his life. Craig and Christian shared his love of fishing, hiking, and amusement park trips, while young Luke kept him laughing with his habit of throwing rocks in the pool. Ron will be remembered as a loving husband, father, friend, and “Pap” with a kind and adventurous spirit, greatly missed by all who knew him.

Mesteller – Julius P., 100, of East Conemaugh Borough, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, August 19th, 2026, at Casselman Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center, Born on August 28th, 1925, in Johnstown, son of Andrew and Susanna (Vancak) Mesteller. He is preceded in death by his parents; loving wife, Emma L. “Em” (Pingatore) Mesteller; Brother, John; Sisters, Magdalene Johnson and Irene Strayer

He served with the 315th Bomb Wing, 75th Air Service Group, in Guam, where he was a PFC guarding the airfields and base in early 1944. On September 25th, 1954, Julius married the love of his life, Emma “Em” Louise (Pingatore) Mesteller who passed away on August 19th, 2017. Together they had four children, Susan (Jim), Doug, Neal (Joanie), and Gail; seven grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.

Julius loved it when family came to visit. They spent time at his camp in Raystown, fishing and enjoying the outdoors. He also led the Boy Scouts of America troop in Conemaugh, PA. Julius worked for the Conemaugh and Blacklick Railroad for 30 years, serving as a foreman on the track gang. He liked to stay busy; he was a member of the United Church of Christ in Johnstown, served multiple terms as president of the consistory, participated on other committees, and sang in the choir. In his free time, he enjoyed golf, which brought him peace. He spent many hours in his basement workshop building photograph frames and tinkering with whatever he could find; if he was not there, he was likely in his garage shop tinkering or mowing the lawn. Julius enjoyed playing Scrabble with his family and teaching his grandchildren how to play. He was also a wonderful teacher in many other ways, sharing his life lessons, playing the organ in the living room, hosting big family gatherings, and playing “war” in the kitchen while listening to the news or game shows

Leonard James "Boots" Holdsworth, 86, of Ebensburg, passed away Tuesday, 18 August, 2026, after a brief bout with lymphoma at Haida Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center. Born 7 June, 1940, in Jackson Township, son of Leonard Holdsworth and Mabel Boring. Preceded in death by his wife Constance Lee (Herman) Holdsworth; his parents; friend, Donald Smith. Survived by children, Lisa M. Holdsworth, Leonard J. Holdsworth II and Justin P. Holdsworth and wife, Tina; grandchildren, Justin P. and Julia K. Holdsworth; sisters, Leona Kush and Ramona Flook; brothers. Arthur Holdsworth and Thomas Holdsworth; various nieces and nephews and friend, Frederick Coposky.

Boots was a graduate of Conemaugh High School. He was a veteran of the US Air Force serving during Vietnam and the Gulf War, retired from the 702nd Airlift Squadron, McGuire Air Force Base in 1997 after 33 years of service. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and time outdoors keeping up his land

Jacqueline Trexler, known to all as “Jacki,” age 51, of East Conemaugh, passed away on July 29, 2026. Born on January 26, 1975, in East Conemaugh, she was the daughter of Thomas and Dorothy (“Dottie”) Trexler. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Matthew Trexler.

Jacki was a graduate of Conemaugh Valley Junior-Senior High School and later earned her degree in Human Resources from Geneva College. She dedicated many years of her life to PA CareerLink, where she proudly served as a Tri-County Coordinator. She loved helping others through her work and treasured the relationships she built along the way.

Above all, Jacki was devoted to her family. Her sons, Nemesio (“Nemo”) Trexler and Romeo Trexler, were her greatest joys. Becoming “Grandma TT” to her grandson, Nemesio Trexler—affectionately known as “Nemo Jr.” or “NJ”—brought her immeasurable happiness. She also adored her miniature dachshunds, Eugenie and Dexter, who were her constant companions.

Jacki found joy in caring for others. She loved cooking and feeding family and friends, and no one ever left her home hungry. She was especially known for hosting her cherished Christmas Eve family dinners, a tradition that brought loved ones together year after year. She also loved listening to ’90s rap, which reflected her fun-loving spirit and always brought a smile to her face.

Those who knew Jacki will remember her for her warmth, her sense of humor, and her generous heart. Though her life was not without challenges, her capacity to love others never faded, and that love will remain part of her legacy.

Jacki is survived by her sons, Nemo and Romeo; her daughter-in-law, Alexis; her beloved grandson, NJ; her older sisters, Angi (Jeff) and Rita (Jeff); her dear friends, Tracy Burkett-McCarthy (James) and Marcy Harris-Anthony (Raymond); and many other family members and friends who will forever cherish her memory.

Her legacy of love, kindness, and generosity will live on through the family and friends who knew and loved her.

Sidor – George J., Jr., 81, Johnstown, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, July 15th, 2026, at Richland Nursing and Rehab. Born on October 4th, 1944, in Johnstown, son of George J. Sr. and Frances K. (Karnosky) Sidor. Preceded in death by his parents, and sister, Eleanor A. Sidor.

He is survived by his loving nephew, Keith (Jodi) Sidor, Virginia Beach, VA; great-nephews and nieces, Alan, Kayla, Loren, and Meghan, all of Virginia Beach, VA.

George was a 1962 graduate of East Conemaugh High School. He attended St. Francis College and UPJ. George was employed at Bethlehem Steel Freight Car Division as a welder until he was called to serve his country in the US Navy during the Vietnam War. After serving his tour of duty he came back to Johnstown, retiring from Johnstown America as a Leader. He was a member of Holy Trinity Byzantine Catholic Church. George loved watching Steelers Football on Sundays and gardening

At George’s request, there will be no public viewing. A Memorial Mass will be held for George and his late sister, Eleanor at 11:00 AM on Monday, August 3rd, 2026 at Holy Trinity Byzantine Catholic Church, Rev. Dr. Robert F. Oravetz. Committal will be at Holy Trinity Cemetery.

Jeffrey J. Petruska, 65, Johnstown, passed away Friday, July 24th ,2026. Born January 14th ,1961. Son of Joseph Sr. and Helen (Rykala) Petruska. Preceded in death by father and mother. Survived by brothers Joseph Jr., John, and nephew Joshua.

Jeff attended the Special Education School in Woodvale until the school was damaged in the Flood of 1977. He and his classmates then were transferred to the Learning Center in Vinco, where he graduated in 1982. Jeff was also a 1982 graduate of Conemaugh Valley High School. Jeff always looked forward to going to the Vinco School's prom reunion dances which were held numerous times through the years; where he would have a chance to meet up with his friends and classmates.

After graduating, Jeff worked at the Association of the Blind. He also participated in the Special Olympics throughout his life. He was active in several sports and competed in bowling, volleyball, basketball and track events throughout the state and as far as Washington D.C.

Jeff was a big fan of music, whether it was pop, rock and especially country. He enjoyed playing games of all types; his favorites included video games (Mario, Donkey Kong, Sonic), board games (RISK, Monopoly, Easy Money) and card games (especially UNO). He loved going to flea markets and garage sales, outdoor festivals and carnivals, church events and Idlewild Park school picnics. He loved any and all sporting events (AAABA, high school football, Three Rivers and PNC Park). Jeff was an avid sports fan of Major League Baseball, NFL, and college football and basketball. His favorite teams were the San Diego Chargers, the San Diego Padres and Penn State.

Despite his disability, he lived his life to the fullest. Jeff was very outgoing and had an infectious smile. He was kind and helpful to everyone he met and was willing to lend a hand at home, at his school or any social event he was involved with. Jeff touched the hearts of many and will be missed by all who knew him.

Dostal Jr. – Francis “Doc”, 97, of Johnstown, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, July 14th, 2026, surround by loved ones. Born on October 15th, 1928, in Johnstown, son of Francis M.D. and Mary Kathryn (Pierce) Dostal. Preceded in death by his loving wife, Shirley (Berkey) Dostal; Parents; Grandchildren, Michael F. Buchan, Jessica Dostal, Luke Dostal, Anthony Dostal; Sisters, Mary K. Sherman and Betty Belle Wolf.

He is survived by his loving children, David, Christina (Terry), Barbara (Bob), Kathy (Joe), Dennis (Darlene), Debbie, Larry, Donald (Brenda), Eric; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; Survived by siblings, Roberta and Ralph, and several nieces and nephews.

Francis was a graduate of Johnstown Catholic High School and Clarion University. He retired from MetLife Insurance. He enjoyed Hunting, fishing, and walking in the woods.
