The heat is here, and it can become dangerous faster than many people realize. Emerson Ambulance Service encourages everyone to take a few simple steps to stay safe during this heat wave.
๐ง Drink plenty of water throughout the day.
๐ก๏ธ Avoid strenuous outdoor activities during the hottest hours if possible.
๐งข Wear lightweight, light-colored clothing and take frequent breaks in the shade or air conditioning.
๐ Never leave a child, older adult, or pet inside a parked vehicle, even for a moment.
๐ค Check on elderly family members, neighbors, and anyone who may not have access to air conditioning.
โ ๏ธ Watch for signs of heat-related illness:
โข Heavy sweating
โข Dizziness or fainting
โข Headache
โข Nausea or vomiting
โข Muscle cramps
๐จ Call 911 immediately if someone becomes confused, loses consciousness, has hot, dry skin, or stops sweating. These are signs of heat stroke, a life-threatening emergency.
