🩺 Why Primary Care Matters

Primary care is about more than seeing a healthcare provider when you're sick. Having a primary care provider gives you someone who can get to know your health history, monitor changes over time, and help you stay on top of your overall health.

Regular primary care visits can help:

❤️ Monitor blood pressure, blood sugar, cholesterol, and other important health indicators
🔍 Identify potential health concerns early
💊 Manage ongoing conditions like diabetes and high blood pressure
📋 Keep you informed about recommended screenings and preventive care
💬 Give you a trusted place to ask questions and discuss changes in your health

Consistent care can help you make informed decisions about your health before a small concern becomes a bigger problem.

If you're an uninsured adult, Jonesboro Church Health Center is here to help. Visits are just $25.

📞 Call 870-972-4777 to schedule an appointment.

💙 Three Updates from Jonesboro Church Health Center!

We have so much to be grateful for, and Michelle is sharing three special updates from around the clinic.

👏 First, we are celebrating Kim Metcalf and her incredible 24 years of service to Jonesboro Church Health Center. Twenty-four years of dedication, compassion, and commitment to our patients and our mission is truly something worth celebrating. Thank you, Kim, for the difference you have made and continue to make!

🪧 You may also notice some new signage around the clinic! We are incredibly grateful to the sponsors whose generosity and support help us continue serving uninsured adults in our community.

💙 And finally, our new Blessing Box is already making an impact! It has been refilled each day with food and necessities for anyone in our community who may need a little extra help. Thank you again to Leadership Jonesboro Group 4 for bringing this project to life, and thank you to everyone who has already donated items to help keep it stocked.

These three updates all have one thing in common: people caring for people. Whether through years of service, financial support, or simply placing food in a Blessing Box, every act of kindness helps strengthen our community.

Thank you for helping us continue to provide healing, help, and hope. 💙

🩺 Myth vs. Fact: Diabetes

❌ Myth: Why Primary Care Matters
Explain the benefits of having a primary care provider.

✅ Fact: Diabetes can affect people of many different ages.

While the risk of type 2 diabetes increases with age, younger adults can develop it too. Factors such as family history, physical inactivity, excess weight, and other health conditions can increase your risk.

The good news is that healthy habits and regular medical care can make a difference.

🥗 Choose balanced, nutritious foods
🚶 Stay physically active
🩺 Keep up with routine checkups
🩸 Know your blood sugar levels
💧 Make healthy choices part of your everyday routine

Don't assume you're too young to think about diabetes. Knowing your risk and taking preventive steps now can help protect your health for the future.

Two generations of service, one shared mission. ❤️

We’re so grateful for the longtime volunteers who have faithfully given their time and talents to JCHC, and we’re excited to welcome new healthcare professionals to serve our community.

Today’s photo brings both together — a longtime JCHC volunteer (Glenda Ozier) alongside our newest Nurse Practitioner (Megan Crosby). Different journeys, different roles, but the same heart for caring for our patients and strengthening our community.

This is what JCHC is all about. 💙

🚭 Health Education: How Smoking Affects Your Body

Smoking doesn't just affect your lungs. It can impact nearly every part of your body and increase your risk for serious health problems.

Smoking can:
🫁 Damage your lungs and make breathing more difficult
❤️ Increase your risk of heart disease and stroke
🩸 Damage blood vessels and affect circulation
🦷 Affect your teeth and gums
🩺 Increase the risk of several types of cancer
💪 Make it harder for your body to heal and fight illness

The good news? Quitting smoking can benefit your health at any age. Every step toward becoming smoke-free is a step toward a healthier future.

🩺 Meet with a healthcare provider to discuss your current health, medical history, medications, and any concerns you may have.

💬 Ask questions! Your visit is an opportunity to talk openly with your provider about your health and learn what steps you can take moving forward.

📖 Faith Reflection

“Only, they asked us to remember the poor, the very thing I was eager to do.”
Galatians 2:10

This simple verse carries a powerful reminder: caring for those in need should be something we do with willing and compassionate hearts.

At Jonesboro Church Health Center, that call to serve is at the heart of our mission. Through the generosity of our donors, volunteers, and community partners, we are able to provide affordable healthcare to uninsured adults who may otherwise struggle to access the care they need.

May we continue to look for opportunities to serve our neighbors, care for those in need, and put our faith into action. 💙
