Mrs. Faye Annette Moore Holden, Jonesborough, age 79, has gone to be in the angel choir in heaven with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Thursday, September 3, 2026.

She will be dearly missed by her loving family and friends.

Faye was born in Salem, Virginia, to the late Richard and Laura Rosella Moore

Mr. Anthony Chapman, age 61, of Jonesborough, passed away at the Johnson City Medical Center on Wednesday, August 26, 2026.

Anthony was born in Saltville, VA, to the late Frank and Theresa Bielen Chapman.

Anthony enjoyed Camping, fishing, and watching westerns.

Survivors include his wife, Tammy Chapman; two sons, Anthony D. Chapman and Brian Peters, one daughter, Erin Decker; grandchildren, Dylan Ayoob, Jacksen Peters, and Tiffinea Edwards; great-grandchildren, Keiden Ayoob, and Alaina Ayoob; one brother, Jody Chapman (Kay) two sisters, Meredith Dugger and Sister M. Sharon.

Mr. James Lawerence "Hutch" Hutchison, of Knoxville, Tennessee, passed away on August 20, 2026. Born to Lona Mae Hutchison and Rev. Joseph Lawerence Hutchison, Hutch grew up in a family grounded in faith and love, attending the Church Of God throughout his life. He proudly served his country as a Lance Corporal in the United States Marine Corps and was a Vietnam Veteran, sustaining serious injuries in combat while demonstrating unwavering courage and devotion.

Hutch was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Vickie C. Hutchison, and by all his siblings. He was the last of eleven brothers and sisters to pass; Willie Beatrice Jones, Geneva Jones, Louise Jones, Roy D. Jones, Margaret Earlene Martin, Pear D. Butler, Dorothy Lee Wilson, Lona Marie Waddell, Catherine Lorene Franklin, Mary Francis McClain, and Ernest Burl Jones.

He is survived by his daughter, Tammy Hutchison Herrle, and her children; U.S. Marine Corps Sgt. Phillip Doty and wife Morgan, ( Jake and Autumn Doty), Timothy Doty, and Alicia Herrle. He is also survived by his son, Bryan Albrtton, and his daughter, Sara Albritton-Baird and her husband, Eddie Baird. Sara's children include Matthew Albritton and his wife Carissa (Hannah and Simon), and Mariah Albritton-Baird and Tyler Bailey (Petra).

Hutch was deeply loved by his family and all who knew him. He had a caring and generous heart, living with integrity, loyalty, courage, and strength rarely seen or shared. His sense of humor, love of travel, and devotion as a father and "Pappaw" created memories cherished by many. His presence will be profoundly missed, and his legacy of service, love, and resilience will continue to live on in the hearts of those he leaves behind.

Graveside service with Military Honors for Hutch will be September 4, 2026 1:00pm at Mountain Home National Cemetery. Everyone is ask to meet at the cemetery.

Mrs. Iva Cox, age 90, of Jonesborough, passed away at Four Oaks Health Care.

Iva was born in Kingsport, Tennessee, to the late Thomas and Nola Smith Cox, She was also preceded in death by her husband, Ed Cox; son Mike Cox; brothers and sisters, Fred Cox, Donald Cox, Wayne Cox, Veda Crawford (Raymond), and Ruth Hill (Gerald).

Iva retired from Washington County Food Services. She attended Bethany Baptist Church as her health allowed.

Survivors include two sons, Robert Cox, and Tom Cox; grandchildren, Lindsey and Taylor; and two great-grandchild; one sister, Elizabeth Bible, and several nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers donation may be made to the funeral home to help with funeral expenses.

Graveside service will be Monday August 24, 2026 2:00PM in Pond Cemetery, those wishing to go in procession meet at Funeral Home, 1776 Hwy 11-E Jonesborough, by 1:00PM.

Mr. James Michael Waters, Jr., age 72, of Jonesborough, passed away on Friday, August 14, 2026, at the James H. Quillen VA Medical Center.
James was born in Fort Dix, New Jersey, to James Michael and Teresa Swaniger Waters, Sr.
James retired from the United States Postal Service in 2014, initially working as a Letter Carrier and culminating his Postal career as a Building Equipment Mechanic.
James proudly served his country in the United States Army. His recognitions include Expert Badge Rifle M-16, Good Conduct Medal, Sharpshooter Badge and Gr***de.
Survivors include his fiancé Maria Padilla, daughter, Meghann England, sisters Kathleen Reed (Bill), and Christine Wills (Grady), nieces and nephews Colleen Reed, Bill Reed Jr., Sarah Caudill and Brian Kane. He had many special friends, including Curtis Saulsbury, Mike Gola,
and fishing buddy Bob Boisvert. He enjoyed traveling to Maine to visit Bob and had fond fishing adventures.
James had wonderful neighbors, Joe and Mary, Art and Trish, Bill and Marge, Tim and Pam, Tim and Mary, and many more. He enjoyed spending Wednesday Lunch gatherings with the Men’s Group, having great conversations with Tim, Bill, Bob, Dave, Frank, Joe and all members.
James was a devoted Dallas Cowboys fan; a passion shared with younger sister Kathleen for many years. They would talk before and after Cowboys’ games and the greeting would always be “How about them Cowboys”!
Memorial service will be Wednesday August 26, 2026, at 6:00 PM at New Hope Brethren Church, 352 New Hope Road, Jonesborough, TN with Pastor John H. Moore officiating. The family will receive family and friends from 5:00 to 6:00 PM, prior to the service. A meal will be served after the service, and everyone is welcome.

Mrs. Velma Jean Gillin, age 79, of Telford, passed away at the Ballad Health Hospice House, Bristol, TN, on Tuesday, August 18, 2026.
Jean was born in Washington County, TN, to the late James and Velma Adams Kinnick. She was also preceded in death by a son, Joseph Wayne Gillin, and a brother, Dean Kinnick.

Jean was a member of New Hope Brethren Church, where she enjoyed greeting those who came into the church. She worked for forty years at Magnavox and then retired from John Deere.

Survivors include her husband, of 59 years, Roger Gillin, son Ronald "Ronnie" Gillin; daughter-in-law Ginny Gillin; grandchildren, Bryant Gillin (Alea), Austin Gillin (Madie) Kayla Shirley (Brandley), Charlsie Gillin, Katelyn Gillin, Emily Gillin; great-grandchildren, Everleigh Shirley, Elias Shirley, and Maggy Mae Gillin, two brothers, Steve Kinnick (Carolyn), and Mike Kinnick, one sister in law Carolyn Kinnick; and several nieces and nephews.

Robert Darrell Stockstill was born in Picayune, Mississippi, on January 14, 1974, to Steve Stockstill and Teresa Young. He spent many years in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, before eventually making his home among the beautiful hills of East Tennessee.

Rob was deeply loved by many and had a genuine love for Jesus. He was a skilled carpenter by trade and had a special gift for training dogs. He was an avid fisherman, enjoyed music, and had a lifelong passion for motorcycles.

Above all, Rob loved his family and cherished his siblings dearly. He will be remembered for the lives he touched, the things he loved, and, most of all, by the many people who loved him.

Rob is survived by his father, Steve (Julie) Stockstill; his mother, Teresa (Kenny) Young; his siblings, Stephanie Stockstill, Bethany (Jesse) Bales, Caleb (Shelby) Stockstill, Sarah (Kevin) Raines, Zachariah (Kelcie) Stockstill, Michaela (Randy) McKinney, and Mackenzie Stockstill; numerous nieces and nephews; his cherished dog, Oscar; his good friend Elmz Bearhead and his beloved online crew, who shared friendship, laughter, and many meaningful moments with him.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Darrell and Christine Stockstill; his maternal grandparents, Harold and Bobby Sanford; and his brother, Joshua Stockstill.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 22, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at The Jonesborough Church of God in Jonesborough, Tennessee.

The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to everyone who has offered prayers, love, and condolences during this difficult time. Rob will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who knew and loved him.

Mrs. Angela Gaynelle Matts, Greeneville, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, August 6, 2026.

Angela was born in Greeneville, Tennessee, to the late Carol Burke.

Angela was a devoted mother and grandmother, which is where she found her greatest joy. Her family meant everything to her, and she cherished every moment spent surrounded by the people she loved. She had a loving and caring heart and was always happiest when she could spend time with her family, creating memories that will be treasured forever.

Survivors include her husband, Peter Matts, children, Erin Freeman, Brendon Matts, (Gabrielle), and Ayden Matts; grandchildren whom she loved dearly, Malcom and Cooper Matts; one brother, Josh Riddle; nephews, Chance and Brody Zigler.

Graveside service for Angela will be Saturday August 15, 2026 11:00AM at Union Chapel Cemetery in Afton, TN, with Pastor Nathan Leasure officiating. Everyone is asked to meet at the cemetery.

Mark Haines, 72, of Jonesborough, Tennessee, passed away on August 9, 2026.
Mark lived a full and remarkable life, defined by hard work, curiosity, creativity, faith, and an
appreciation for the beauty found in both ordinary and extraordinary things.
Throughout his life, Mark was an entrepreneur at heart and pursued many different
endeavors. He spent much of his career in the restaurant industry as a chef and
restaurateur, most notably as the owner of Bolton’s Landing in Glasgow, Kentucky. His
love of good food and hospitality extended beyond his own restaurant, and he served as
President of the Kentucky Restaurant Association. Later in his career, Mark worked as a
Financial Advisor with Edward Jones, bringing the same dedication and personal
connection to his clients that characterized so much of his life.
Mark also believed strongly in service. He spent years serving on the Kentucky
Personnel Board after being appointed by the governor and gave generously of his time
and talents to his church. He was rarely one to sit still; there was always something to
build, learn, read, improve, or do for someone else.
Mark was a lover of all things beautiful. He appreciated art, photography, flowers,
landscaping, beautiful sunsets, wonderful food, well-made items, traveling to new
places, and, above all, his beautiful wife. As a master woodworker, he could create
beautiful things with his hands and took great pride in his craftsmanship. He was also
an avid reader with an enduring love of learning. His curiosity stayed with him
throughout his life, and he was always interested in discovering something new.
Above all, Mark treasured his family. He especially loved being part of his
grandchildren’s lives and spent countless hours watching and cheering them on from
the sidelines and stands. Whether it was volleyball, basketball, baseball, football, or
soccer, they could count on him to be there. Just as much as he loved learning, Mark
loved teaching and sharing what he knew. Some of his most meaningful time with his
grandchildren was spent in the kitchen teaching them to cook or in the workshop
teaching them woodworking—passing along not only his skills, but his patience,
creativity, and appreciation for making something with your own hands. Whether he was
teaching them something new or simply showing up to cheer them on, Mark made sure
his grandchildren knew how important they were to him.

Mark knew the profound sorrow of losing a child. He was preceded in death by his
beloved son, Michael W. Haines, whose memory remained an enduring part of Mark’s
life and family. He was also preceded in death by his parents, Mary and Don Haines.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Betty Haines; his daughters, Lauren (Dustin)
Clark and Blake (John) Brandon; his eight grandchildren, Mitchell (Ashley) Clark,
Lawson Clark, Baylor Clark, Hadley Clark, Malone Clark, Weston Haines, Halston
Brandon, and Haines Brandon; his sister, Susan (Jim) Kipp; and his brother, Walter
(Paula) Haines.
Mark leaves behind a legacy found not only in his professional accomplishments and
service, but in the things he created, the places he traveled, the knowledge he gathered
and shared, the meals he prepared, the beauty he appreciated, and most importantly,
the family he loved.
His was a life spent creating, learning, teaching, serving, and staying wonderfully
busy—and those who knew and loved him will carry his memory with them always.

Lieutenant David Michael Alexander (Ret.), 78, of Jonesborough, Tennessee,
passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family, on Tuesday, July 21, 2026.
David was born on February 16, 1948, in Glen Cove, New York, to the late Ralph
and Emilie Alexander. His life's calling found him early: he served four years in
the United States Air Force as a firefighter, attaining the rank of Sergeant — the
beginning of a lifetime devoted to the fire service, protecting others and
preparing the next generation of firefighters to do the same.
After his military service, David continued his career with the Lake Barton Fire
Department in Orange County, Florida, and went on to serve with the Orlando
International Airport Fire Department, where his Air Force crash rescue
experience served him well protecting one of the nation's busiest airports. He
retired at the rank of Lieutenant from the Orlando International Airport Fire
Department.

Teaching was woven through it all. David, who held an associate's degree in fire
science, served as an adjunct professor of fire science at Valencia Community
College both during his firefighting career and after his retirement, and as an
instructor with the Maitland Fire Department. After moving to Northeast
Tennessee, he continued teaching numerous fire service courses, sharing
decades of hard-earned experience with countless students. The firefighters he
trained carry his lessons with them every time they answer a call — a legacy that
will protect lives for generations.
Those who loved David will remember him best through the sayings he was never
without. "News at six!" he'd declare. He was fond of reminding everyone that "It's
hard to soar with eagles when you're flying with turkeys!" And countless students
over the years heard the words that captured his life's work in a single challenge:
"So you wanna be a firefighter?!" His humor, his high standards, and his big
heart will echo in firehouses and family gatherings for years to come.
David was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Carol. He is survived by his
brother, Richard (Loretta) Alexander; his children, Robert Kleinschmidt, Kristen
(Marc) O'Connor, and Michael (Carrie) Alexander; and his grandchildren, Robert
O'Connor, Emmalyn Goodman, Sarah Johnson, Christopher, Kai, and Cynthia
Kleinschmidt, and Kathryn Alexander.

The family extends their deepest gratitude to those who cared for David with such
devotion. To Sorie Tamba, his longtime caregiver, whose exceptional,
hardworking, and loving care meant more than words can say; to Cheyenne
Adkins, for her loving care in his final weeks; to his medical team over the years
— Dr. Lisa McKinney; Victoria Osborne, FNP; Drew Turner, DNP; and Dr. David
Joseph; to Dr. Kelly Coches and the exceptional nurses of his team at the
Mountain Home VA Community Living Center, Lucas, Ken, and Rebecca; and to
the Amedisys home hospice team — thank you for the compassion and dignity
you gave him.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, July 30, 2026, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m.
at New Hope Brethren Church, 352 New Hope Road, Jonesborough,
Tennessee, with a funeral service to follow at 7:00 p.m. with Pastor John H. Moore officiating.
Burial with Firefighter honors will take place on Friday, July 31, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. at Mountain Home National
Cemetery, 53 Memorial Avenue, Mountain Home, Tennessee, where he will be laid
to rest beside his beloved wife, Carol.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Jonesborough Public
Safety's Shop with a Cop or Firefighter program, which provides Christmas gifts
and meals to local children in need each year. Checks may be made payable to
