Marcella "Marcie" Hall went to her heavenly father after a long illness. She was born on November 23, 1947. She was preceded in death by her mother Anza Bailey Hall, her father Grover Hall, and her brother, Grover Wardell "G.W." Hall and sister-in-law, Jackie Ottoes Hall.

She attended Washington College Academy, 1967-63 then Jonesboro High School, 1963-1965. She married Carl Orr on October 1, 1965. After being out of high school for 10 1/2 years, she attended ETSU and graduated in 3 1/2 years with cuma sum laude degree, majoring in psychology and business administration. She carried a full course load while working part-time and caring for her daughters. Her first professional job came as Executive Director of WACARA group home (which involved many hours) while in college. The home for 9 mentally challenged women won Group Home of the Year by the state of TN under her direction. After graduation, she went to work for ETSU as a supervisor of social services staff and educators. This program worked with youth who had dropped out of school and gave them the opportunity to get their GED's and learn how to work on productive jobs. All but one of her jobs was in the social services arena. She worked tirelessly to help abused women and get laws changed to help them survive! She also helped to change the law about elder abuse to have a more substantial penalty after her mother was abused in a nursing home.

She was one of the first supervisors of the newly formed Children Services Department for Tennessee supervising 18 social workers in 8 counties. She finished her professional career working for the State of VA as Training Coordinator for social services for all of South West, Virginia. During her 18 years there, she had the honor of developing the first state of the art training center in VA. She retired in 2011 on disability.

She was so proud to have chaired the reunions/gatherings for Jonesboro HS, all but the 1st one and then the last on in 2015 when her health prevented her from continuing.

She was a woman of faith and had the honor to be church pianist and loved singing in the choirs and singing solos! She enjoyed directing several Christmas plays. The most enjoyable was directing a choir of almost 40 cousins and their spouses to present a video production to their parents.

Her favorite past times were watching her beloved Cowboys, UT sports, Atlanta Braves, grandchildren play sports and making DVD's for family and friends for funerals, birthdays, special occasions and Class Reunions. She spent many hours researching the genealogy of the Shelton/Hall and Bailey family.

She is survived by two daughters, Carla Orr Anderson Powell and husband Ronnie Powell Jr. and Chanda Orr Nave and husband Joey, one step grandson Dylan Nave, two grandsons, Derek Anderson (Ashley), and Gibson White. She had a dear friend Leota Letterman, and Jane Williamson. She had one nephew, Dean Hall (Betty), 3 grandnieces Cassie, Ashlee and Taylor Hall. She had many, many cousin, some of whom were very close.

There will be no formal services at her request. Everyone is invited to attend her informal celebration of life party with light refreshments, at Jonesborough Funeral Home, 1776 Hwy-11E, Jonesborough on Sunday, June 7th from 12:30p.m. to 3:30 p.m.

A private graveside service for immediate family and invited guest will be held at a later date. She request that there by no flowers or donations but rather give money to God and to others who need help.

Jerry Donald Powers, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and devoted man of faith, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on May 20, 2026, at the age of 82. Born on April 17, 1944, in Erwin, Tennessee, he was the cherished son of Clyde and Leah Powers.
After graduating from Unicoi County High School, Jerry answered the call to ministry, dedicating his life to serving God and his community. For more than 50 years, he faithfully served in ministry throughout Tennessee and North Carolina, including the last 20 years as pastor of Mustard Seed Worship Center in Jonesborough, Tennessee.
In addition to his ministry, Jerry worked for many years as a bus driver and cafeteria worker for Washington County, Tennessee Schools. During the summers, many knew him through his Telford Lawnmower Repair Shop, where he enjoyed repairing small engines as both a hobby and a service to others.
Beyond the pulpit, his greatest joy was his family. He was a loving husband to his late wife of 48 years, Brenda Gail (Hughes) Powers, and later shared six years of marriage with his wife, Alma (Campbell) Powers. He was the proud father of Dr. Cynthia Michelle (Powers) Sullivan and son-in-law Tim Sullivan. More than anything, he treasured being “Pops” to his grandchildren, Ethan Sullivan, Molly Sullivan, and Cadence Campbell.
He also shared a special lifelong bond with his sister-in-law, Cindy (Hughes) Hill.
Jerry leaves behind a rich legacy of faith, love, and service. While he will be deeply missed, his family takes comfort in knowing he has heard the words, “Well done, thou good and faithful servant” (Matthew 25:23 KJV).
He is survived by his wife, Alma (Campbell) Powers; daughter, Dr. Cynthia Michelle (Powers) Sullivan and husband, Tim Sullivan; grandchildren, Ethan Sullivan, Molly Sullivan, and Cadence Campbell; and sister-in-law, Cindy (Hughes) Hill.
