✨ Your child doesn't learn calm from being told to "calm down."
They learn calm by experiencing it.
The truth is, children aren't born knowing how to regulate their emotions. Their nervous systems are designed to borrow regulation from the adults around them before they can create it on their own.
So when your child is having a hard time, it's often not because they're giving you a hard time.
They're looking for connection.
They're looking for safety.
They're looking for someone to help their nervous system find its way back to calm.
💙 Co-regulation comes before self-regulation.
And while no parent can stay perfectly calm all the time, understanding how the nervous system works can completely change how we respond to our kids.
If your child struggles with big emotions, meltdowns, anxiety, sensory challenges, or difficulty sleeping, it may be a sign their nervous system is stuck in stress mode and needs support.
