It’s the time of year when flooding impacts our community. If you or someone you know is affected, please check out these essential resources to stay prepared.

𝗝𝘂𝗻𝗲𝗮𝘂 𝗩𝗶𝘀𝗶𝘁𝗼𝗿 𝗔𝗱𝘃𝗶𝘀𝗼𝗿𝘆: 𝗠𝗲𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗻𝗵𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝗚𝗹𝗮𝗰𝗶𝗲𝗿 𝗔𝗿𝗲𝗮

NOAA anticipates Su***de Basin to reach capacity around August 8-10th. Once the basin fills, it can take up to six days for it to overflow into Mendenhall Lake and Mendenhall River.

𝗜𝗺𝗽𝗮𝗰𝘁 𝗼𝗻 𝗧𝗼𝘂𝗿𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗘𝘅𝗰𝘂𝗿𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀

**Do not panic!** Here's what to expect when the flood happens:

• 𝗗𝗶𝗿𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗹𝘆 𝗮𝗳𝗳𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗲𝗱: Float-based excursions on Mendenhall Lake and the Mendenhall River like rafting, canoeing, and kayaking tours will be paused, rerouted, or canceled since lake and river conditions become unsafe and access roads may close.

• 𝗠𝗼𝘀𝘁 𝗝𝘂𝗻𝗲𝗮𝘂 𝗮𝘁𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗲𝘅𝗰𝘂𝗿𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝗲𝘅𝗽𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗼 𝗯𝗲 𝗮𝗳𝗳𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗲𝗱. Glacier flightseeing, hiking outside the flood zone, all downtown attractions, whale watching, fishing, and bike tours are generally expected to operate normally or be adjusted slightly to the situation.

• **Refunds/Rebooking.** Tours booked through your ship will be managed through your ship. If you booked directly, local operators will work with you to reschedule or refund your trip. Most companies will handle that automatically.

𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗪𝗲'𝗿𝗲 𝗔𝘀𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗼𝗳 𝗘𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆𝗼𝗻𝗲

• Do not drive through flooded or closed roads. Do not ask your taxi to do that either. Wakes from passing vehicles can push water into homes. If you must watch, use this online camera:

• Check official channels for real-time updates (see Resources below or in our bio) rather than relying on rumors or social media speculation.

• Do not touch flood pumps or barriers. City crews will be actively monitoring these.

• Have a heart. Our neighbors will be sandbagging, evacuating, and watching their homes for days. A little understanding goes a long way.

• Stay away from the Mendenhall River, Mendenhall Lake, and the evacuation zone during the event. This is not the time for disaster tourism.

• Heed evacuation advisories immediately if you are in or near the flood zone, residents and visitors alike.

We love welcoming visitors to our home, but we ask for your cooperation. Please help our community and first responders by staying clear of the flood zone once an evacuation advisory or flash flood warning is issued.

Our staff showed up and showed our for both the Juneau and Douglas 4th of July Parades. We were so honored to be voted "Most Alaskan" for the Juneau Parade and "Judge's Choice" for the Douglas Parade! ❤️🤍💙

We will be closed on Friday, July 4th so our team can celebrate the holiday with their families. But you can still catch us out and about!
