All my meditating has brought me closer to myself. Less and less reliant on the outside world to provide context for who I am in the world. ⁣

I’ve spent many years conditioned (like most people) to look to my family, friends, and society to confirm and validate me. ⁣

I think we all walk through life undoing that. It’s been a 24/7, work in progress for me. Sometimes a little messy. But every single time I close my eyes and go inside it’s like I take one more step closer to the real me. I know her a little better. In the stillness... we know. ⁣

I just have to say.. it’s a magical feeling. Hugging yourself mentally every day like an old friend you haven’t seen in years. Forever uncovering secret superpowers she has that’s makes you want to keep digging, knowing more. ⁣

I know it sounds a little hippie dippie. But when you feel it, you know. You get it and want everyone you ever meet to feel it too. ⁣

Do you need a ritual or meditation for letting go of the past… Ok it’s past New Year’s but it’s still January and any day of the year is a great time to for Letting Go of the old and bringing in the new.⁣

Save this one, get intentional and leave your “stuff” in 2020. ⁣

𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗻𝗲𝗲𝗱: Slips of paper, a black candle, a white candle, something to burn papers in.⁣

𝗦𝘁𝗲𝗽𝘀:⁣

Close your eyes and 𝘃𝗶𝘀𝘂𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘇𝗲 𝗲𝗮𝗰𝗵 𝗺𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗵 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗽𝗮𝘀𝘁 𝘆𝗲𝗮𝗿 and all its memories. Good, bad and the ugly. Thank the universe for their lessons.⁣

Then imagine your next year and think of all of the situations and feelings and 𝗲𝘅𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲𝘀 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗪𝗔𝗡𝗧 to have. Imprint the feelings that they bring with them.⁣

Open your eyes.⁣

𝗪𝗿𝗶𝘁𝗲 𝗱𝗼𝘄𝗻 on separate pieces of paper all of those things you want to 𝗹𝗲𝘁 𝗴𝗼 of. Behaviors, people, situations, thoughts and attachments that no longer serve you. ⁣

𝗪𝗿𝗶𝘁𝗲 𝗱𝗼𝘄𝗻 the slips of paper all of the things you DO want to 𝗯𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗼 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗹𝗶𝗳𝗲, the new intentions for your life.⁣

𝗟𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁 𝗮 𝗯𝗹𝗮𝗰𝗸 𝗰𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗹𝗲. Burn each one of the things you are letting go of as you release them from the hold they once had on you. Close your eyes after and take a moment to feel the weight lifting away. Repeat that you are no longer that person that needs to be attached to any of those things.⁣

Once you’re done, 𝗹𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁 𝗮 𝘄𝗵𝗶𝘁𝗲 𝗰𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗹𝗲. Burn each of the things you release into the universe to come into your life and soul. Let the feelings associated with each of those resonate in your body as you trust the universe to work with you to make it happen. ⁣

*You can do this meditation if you need to let go anytime of just one thing, person, situation that is weighing on you as well as bringing in the positive you want to replace it with.⁣

I’ve been channeling Henry David Thoreau hard this week looking at turning the page on 2020. ⁣

This sentiment of walking confidently in the direct of your life keeps coming up for me. Going inside, sitting with the inner truths and signposts guiding me to what is meant for me.⁣

There is no straighter path, simpler way and honest route than this.⁣

Take some time today to meditate. Relax into letting go of 2020. Hold the happy moments close to your heart, release any pain and confusion and let the new day of 2021 pour out of the universe into your soul and fill you with optimism, magic, health, happiness and peace.⁣

Go confidently in the direction of your dreams.⁣

I am going to try and record a New Year’s meditation today. It’ll go out to my mailing list if I can make it happen. (Link in Bio)⁣

✨ HAPPY NEW YEAR! ✨⁣

Happy holidays to you and your families from Gwen, Cole and Jake 💚❤️💚 I so get it thid year if it doesn’t feel all “right”, not being able to celebrate with everyone you love. But just because you can’t see it, doesn’t mean it’s not there. I’m so grateful for each and everyone of you 🙏🏻

The spoiler is that we always know the truth. The right thing to do. Even when it feels like we don’t, the answers to everything we are seeking in life are already within us. ⁣

Easier said than done though right? Our habits, tendencies, friends and family, and society can create a false narrative as to who we think we are. What we think we should be doing. What careers, activities and people we should be engaging in. ⁣

But it’s necessary to check into your inner guidance system. ⁣

What sparks joy, fills your cells with happiness, aligns in your soul like puzzle pieces? The things, choices, people that do that, those are your clues. ⁣

I have the kids I teach meditation to write these things down. Reread them when you’re feeling lost or confused. It’s a bit of a relief to know that we already know 🙏🏻⁣

You are never lost. ⁣

My father sent me an email with this photo of mini me (circa 1978!) and the simple one sentence “you are never lost”.⁣

So possibly it’s a sign to pass it on. That lost feeling can be confusing. The more we develop a deep belief in ourselves, and teach our children to believe in themselves, the less “lost” creeps in. ⁣

Some of us have been lucky to be supported by parents growing up through the years with these words of affirmation and love to believe in ourselves so that when the going gets tough we don’t feel lost. We know it’s going to be ok. ⁣

Meditation also does this. I’ve been especially trying to keep it up lately while being away from my family at the holidays. Keeping that connection open to the deepest part of yourself that reminds you it’s going to be ok. Especially when you feel a little lost. ⁣

What is love? (Baby don’t hurt me, don’t hurt me no more) You know you were singing that song in your head 😂 ⁣

Two deep thoughts on this powerful thought by the Dalai Lama:⁣

#1 Think about “love” in this context as love for yourself, love for the people closest to you, love for all humans you come into contact with, love for the simple gift of being alive. Love is really THE most important thing in your life, in the world. I’ll debate this all day. ⁣

#2 If you believe #1, what if you went through your days being very aware of when you are judging yourself or others or life? The greatest way to access love is to train your mind to stop judging. This is an incredible shift, try it just for today. ⁣

We can read as many of the most moving quotes we want and say “yeah, yeah I totally love that”. But I challenge you to put this one into action today. ⁣

Another fun session with these middle school friends. We talk, we vent, we laugh, and of course we meditate! ⁣

They bring me right back to being 13! ⁣

I love sliding in super powerful tools and meditation techniques in the middle of hearing about their latest mall trip 😂🙏🏻⁣

They really make me so proud when they actually DO their journaling homework and want to talk about it! Love it. ⁣

Message me for more info on these sessions for your child and friends! ⁣

We put a high value on reasoning, analyzing, essentially overthinking. Because there’s comfort in knowing you’ve come to a good decision based on “data”. A nice guarantee of success of some kind. ⁣

We desperately seek “understanding” because it means we have control. ⁣

But when really, our inner knowing, our intuition, our “heart” is actually the best compass we have. And it doesn’t always feel like a guarantee. It can feel like the opposite of control. ⁣

It’s that voice deep inside. It’s also a feeling in your body. Whether you feel expanded (happy, open, light) about something or contracted (tight, closed, heavy). We have the answers to the hard things within us. ⁣

** Sometimes we take that contracted feeling at face value as a clue that something isn’t “right”, when it’s really just fear of the unknown or wanting control. **⁣

It’s not always black and white, but we need to dig a little deeper past the our need for control to see what is beneath it. ⁣

Our heart. Our intuition. Our true north. ⁣

This might be a challenging day. Tension, anxiety, fear, uncertainty. But, we are also strong, resilient and in control of our reactions and energy. ⁣

Having a tough moment? Stop. ⁣

Breathe in deeply and fill your lungs and soul with love, feel it pouring into all your cells. Breathe out the fear and stress, relaxing all the muscles in your face and body. Do this again and again. ⁣

We are all one. ✨✨✨⁣

How we show up in the hard times is what defines our character. This is what I’m remembering today and showing my kids today. Coming from love and peace and taking care of each other. Because that’s what’s it’s all about. ⁣

Much love. ⁣
