I get frustrated when doctors and other healthcare providers tell patients to “exercise” without explaining what that actually means.
We don’t just tell patients to take medication. We prescribe a specific drug, dose, and frequency. We monitor progress, assess the response, and adjust treatment when needed.
So why is one of the most powerful tools we have for improving health, building strength, and protecting our bones prescribed so vaguely?
Exercise is medicine. It deserves the same level of specificity: what to do, how often, how intensely, and how to progress safely over time.
“Just exercise” isn’t a prescription. It’s the beginning of a conversation.
