Thickened Capsules. Bilateral Ruptures.

This patient had polyurethane-coated silicone implants for many years, believing they were lifetime devices.

Previous imaging confirmed both implants were ruptured.

An important reminder: Breast implants are NOT lifetime devices.

My team and I wish her a smooth and speedy recovery!

What’s hiding inside the capsule?

This patient had silicone breast implants placed in 2009 and had NO IDEA what was happening inside her body.

🔹 Left breast: Ruptured silicone implant.

🔹 Right breast: Severely contracted capsule containing fluid that appeared to be an old hematoma (collection of blood).

Two implants. Two very different findings. And a patient who was completely unaware of either complication.

An important reminder that what’s happening inside isn’t always visible or accompanied by obvious symptoms.

POV: 8 weeks post … did I think baby wearing was going to be possible at this stage? Nope. Is it actually easier & painless without the 🍒 & with the right carrier? YUP! Is this my preferred carrier ? Not even a little! 🤣😅 Anyways, this week we had TWO field trips with all 4 littles & I didn’t need a nap, nor were my joints aching or my head hurting. 🤯 THIS WHOLE TIME y’all have been out in this world just existing like this?! There I was suffering with chronic pain and fatigue for so long thinking THAT was my new normal!!! So grateful to for the gift of my surgery and gifting me a new existence 🫶🏼

Weekly Q&A 🎥 | Why I No Longer Place Breast Implants

After more than 20 years in plastic surgery, my perspective has evolved. I made the decision years ago to stop placing breast implants, and it’s a decision I stand firmly behind.

Through my experience performing thousands of surgeries, seeing implant-related complications firsthand, and listening to the concerns of countless women, I’ve changed the way I approach breast surgery.

I’m not here to tell anyone what to do with their body. My goal is to educate, share what I’ve learned, and empower women to make informed decisions about their health.

Two patients. Two capsule cutting cases. Both from yesterday’s surgeries.

Case A: This patient had 325cc SALINE implants surrounded by severely contracted, calcified, and thickened capsules. She chose explant surgery due to ongoing discomfort and concerns about her health.

Case B: This patient also had significantly contracted, calcified, and thickened capsules surrounding her SILICONE implants. Upon removal, we found a ruptured right implant and severe gel bleed on the left. She had been experiencing pain and discomfort.

While these cases involved different types of implants, both demonstrate the significant changes that can occur over time.

After more than 20 years of performing breast surgery, I continue to emphasize the importance of listening to your body, taking symptoms seriously, and making informed decisions about your health.
