PCOS may soon be called PMOS — Polymetabolic O***y Syndrome — and honestly, this shift matters.
For years, women have been told this condition was simply about “ovarian cysts” or irregular periods. But we now understand it’s often deeply connected to insulin resistance, inflammation, metabolism, fertility, energy, cardiovascular health, and long-term wellness.
Translation?
This was never just an o***y issue.
As physicians, we need to stop reducing women’s symptoms to:
✨ “just lose weight”
✨ “your labs are fine”
✨ “come back when you want to get pregnant”
Women deserve better conversations, earlier intervention, and treatment plans that address the whole body.
And to every woman navigating PCOS/PMOS:
You are not lazy.
You are not failing.
And there are absolutely things we can do to help. 🤍
