People see me and assume I have it all together. They see a big family, a successful practice, and someone who seems to handle it all with ease.

What they don’t see is the reality behind the picture.

I’m a husband and a dad to nine kids. Some days they think I’m the greatest. Other days... not so much. That’s family, and I wouldn’t trade it for anything.

I live with Type 1 diabetes every single day. No days off. Managing it while caring for hundreds of patients and working 10+ hour days isn’t effortless—it’s intentional.

There are days when I feel like I’m falling short. Days when I’m driven more by the things I haven’t figured out yet than by the things I’ve accomplished. Success doesn’t erase self-doubt. It just gives you different problems to solve.

That’s the thing about appearances.
The strongest people you know are probably carrying battles you know nothing about.

The happiest-looking family still has hard conversations.

The successful person still questions themselves.

The healthy-looking person may be fighting an invisible illness every day.

So before you compare your life to someone else’s highlight reel, remember: every person has a story that’s deeper than what makes it onto social media.

I understand how miserable and long your journey can be.

I have had two children with eczema and the process to find a real solution can feel so defeating.
