Focusing on inpatient and outpatient rehabilitation with 24-hour skilled nursing care, Life Care Center of Kona offers state-of-the-art rehab equipment such as the AlterG® Anti-Gravity Treadmill®. With an on-site physician offering faster, more convenient patient and resident care, our caregivers welcome skilled nursing residents, short-term rehabilitation patients or post-operative recovery patients. We also offer a secured Alzheimer's and dementia unit.

⭐ Success Story ⭐

➡️ Kathryn first came to Life Care Center of Kona in March due to developing hydrocephalus after undergoing a total hip replacement. Kathryn had to be re-admitted to the hospital at the end of March and then returned to us in May. At the time of her re-admission, Kathyrn was dependent on staff for all care, was unable to actively move her extremities, and lost her ability to verbalize and communicate with staff. Kathryn worked with Physical, Occupational, Speech Therapy teams 5 days per week. Her therapy program focused on strength, balance, independence with daily activities, mobility, and improving the ability to swallow regular textured food and thin liquids.

👏 Kathryn discharged back home with her son in early June, completely independent with daily activities and mobility! Kathryn met all of her therapy goals, progressing from requiring 2-person total assistance for all tasks to being fully independent and walking with a walker. Kathryn, YOU ARE AMAZING! We are so proud of your hard work and everything you have accomplished in order to get home.

💬 "My care was exemplary — from the therapists, to the physical care, to the center itself," Kathryn said. "The staff was professional and kind. I am now home and totally healthy. The real star was Dr. Paul Hayward. He recognized a life-threatening condition and arranged for my transfer to Oahu. We are so fortunate to have Dr. Hayward, Gretchen (SLP), Morgan (PT), and the Life Care staff in our community."
