There’s a common misconception that therapy is only about the hardest, heaviest moments. And yes, I do sit with clients through deep trauma, intrusive thoughts, and seasons of depression that feel overwhelming.

But I also get to witness something just as powerful.
I get to celebrate the wins. The big ones like choosing a college, starting a new job, or getting engaged. And the quiet, meaningful ones like getting out of bed on a hard day, setting a boundary for the first time, challenging a negative thought.

Therapy holds space for both the pain and the progress. And it’s an honor to walk alongside my clients through all of it. 🤍

Conversation starters after watching Disney Pixar's Inside Out 2:

❤️Feel ALL the feels
🧡There are no good and bad emotions, just comfortable and uncomfortable ones
💛Thinking logically/rationally can be blocked by anxiety and anger
💚Anxiety can be calmed when we learn to self-soothe (or co-regulate) through use of mindfulness, grounding techniques, and challenging uncomfortable thoughts/feelings
💙The goal is not to eliminate anxiety, but instead allow it to be a part of oneself without defining oneself
💜Lastly, it's important to help kids of all ages understand that these more complicated feelings don't occur JUST in teens. Talk to kids about times in which they've felt embarrassed or envious or gone down the what-if land associated with anticipatory anxiety

A child not listening during lessons does not necessarily mean they are being disrespectful - children are often extra sensitive to internal and external environments which can impact their ability to listen.
