One of the most common questions we hear is, โ€œWhen should I start?โ€
We recommend starting mammograms at age 40. Beginning screening at 40 is an important step in helping detect potential breast cancer early.
What if you notice a change in your breast?
A screening mammogram is for people who donโ€™t have breast symptoms and are having routine breast screening. If you notice a new lump, pain or another change in your breast, talk with your physician. They may recommend a diagnostic mammogram with an ultrasound if indicated.
There is no official age to stop having mammograms. Talk with your physician about your individual screening plan and whatโ€™s right for you.

Mammograms can come with a lot of questions. If youโ€™re preparing for your first mammogram or getting your yearly screening, you may be wondering what the experience will
be like, whether it will hurt or how quickly youโ€™ll get your results. We asked our Breast Care Centers to share some of the questions they hear most often from patients.
Does it hurt?
It should feel tight, but it should not hurt.
Have breast implants?
Yes. Mammograms can safely be performed with implants.
How long will I be there?
The entire appointment takes about 15 minutes.
When will I get my results?
Mammogram results normally take just 1โ€“2 days. Results can
be sent to your provider, viewed through the MyBeacon patient
portal and received by mail. If youโ€™re called back for additional images after your first
mammogram, donโ€™t worry. Additional views can be a normal part of the process.
Have more questions? Talk with your care team before your appointment. https://bit.ly/4rMuUgR

Three Rivers Health is advising patients and visitors of temporary changes to the hospital entrance and parking due to ongoing construction activity on its campus.

The former Schimnoski Building, also known as Medical Office Building 1, has been demolished to make way for the hospitalโ€™s new medical office building. Due to an expansion of the construction zone, as of Wednesday, October 21, 2026, the Emergency Department entrance located on the left side of the front of the hospital is temporarily closed.

Patients and visitors should enter Three Rivers Health through the entrance located on the right side of the front of the hospital. Directional signage has been installed to help guide visitors to the appropriate entrance.

Construction activity has also reduced the number of available parking spaces on campus. Signs are posted indicating available parking areas.

Think leg pain is just part of getting older? It could be something more.

Peripheral artery disease (PAD) can reduce blood flow to your legs and feet, causing pain or cramping when you walk that improves with rest. Other signs can include numbness, weakness, coldness or sores that donโ€™t heal.

Donโ€™t assume these changes are just part of getting older. If youโ€™re experiencing persistent leg pain or other changes in your legs or feet, talk with your provider about whether PAD could be the cause.

Know the signs. Get the care you need.

Meet our mobile clinic team! ๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿš

The Outreach Community Health Centers Mobile Unit, in collaboration with Ascension Wisconsin, brings compassionate care directly to neighborhoods across the Milwaukee community. In the mobile unit, Ascension Wisconsin clinicians are dedicated to making care more accessible and welcoming.

For Nancy Leahy, NP, the best part of working in the mobile unit is โ€œmeeting people right in their neighborhood, often within walking distance. We have an opportunity to provide medical care in a unique way.โ€

Brenda Buchanan, RN, says that a moment in the clinic that stood out to her was: โ€œCaring for a 92-year-old woman who walked over from her senior housing unit next door to receive care for a chronic illness. Because of our location, she didn't have to worry about finding transportation to receive care.โ€

Weโ€™re proud to meet people where they are and help make quality health care easier to access. ๐Ÿ’•
