โIโve always been the responsible one.โ
โIโm just someone who likes to keep the peace.โ
โIโve never been good at asking for help.โ
โI guess thatโs just how I am.โ
But have you ever wondered where some of those ways of being came from?
Throughout our lives, we develop ways of navigating relationships, expectations, and the environments around us. Some reflect our personalities, some are shaped by our experiences, and many become strengths we genuinely value.
Yet sometimes, the habits and roles that once served us well become so familiar that we stop considering whether they still fit the lives we're living today.
Understanding where something comes from doesn't mean there's something wrong with it.
And personal growth doesn't always mean changing who we are. Sometimes it means discovering that we have more choices in how we respond, connect, and move through the world.
What if we approached these parts of ourselves with curiosity rather than criticism?
In this week's What We Carry blog, we're exploring the stories that may exist behind the familiar phrase, โThat's just how I am.โ
