For complex trauma survivors- learning and implementing healthy boundaries is a very difficult and emotional process.

It took me a few years to go from:
First learning what healthy boundaries are
To trying to implement them
Deal with all the anxiety, fear and triggers that occurred
Making mistakes along the way
Persisting even when I wanted to give up
To feeling no guilt and alot less anxiety
To implementing them more easily
To finding it a process I can do with little anxiety and in a way that protects me.

ℹ️ TURNING SELF-CRITICISM INTO GROWTH |

Drawing the line between constructive self-evaluation and self-criticism is crucial for maintaining mental well-being and fostering personal growth. Though both processes involve self-reflection, their outcomes differ significantly.

Understanding these differences can help individuals develop healthier perspectives and more effective coping strategies. Here are some ways to differentiate between constructive self-evaluation and self-criticism, and how to draw that line effectively.

One of the most significant distinctions lies in the focus. Constructive self-evaluation emphasizes behavior and how it can be improved. For example, saying, “I didn’t prepare thoroughly for that presentation. Next time, I’ll allocate more time for preparation,” focuses on specific actions and improvement. Self-criticism, however, targets self-worth, such as saying, “I always mess up. I’m incompetent and not good enough.”

Babies soak up affection and love through their skin. Gentle touch shares the tenderness that every infant requires. Playful touch encourages joy. Holding your baby not only provides pleasure and reassurance, but it is also essential in helping to soothe and organize difficult feelings.
