What a beautiful Saturday morning it was at Horse Time with the Herd! 🌞🐴

The kids had such a wonderful experience learning all about the horses, getting to know their names, and even brushing and spending time with them. 🐎✨

It was such a peaceful, hands-on experience, and we loved watching the kids connect with the horses while learning something new.

A special thank you to founder Sandra and her husband, Mark, for welcoming us and making our experience so enjoyable. We truly appreciate the time, love, and care you shared with our families.🥰🤝❤️

We enjoyed every moment and had an amazing afternoon! 🫶🏽

THIS IS WHAT JOY LOOKS LIKE!

Jayce was in such a GOOD mood this morning as his Dad drove him to school! 🥰🚗

He was singing, dancing in his seat, and enjoying his favorite jam, “I Just Want to Dance!” 🎶💃🏽🕺🏽

And let me tell you… that song is DEFINITELY his jam! 😂❤️

Watching moments like this may seem small to some, but as a parent, these are the moments that fill your heart in ways words can’t explain. 🥹💙

The laughter.
The singing.
The dancing.
The pure happiness.

These are the moments we hold onto. ❤️

Autism doesn’t take away the joy of childhood. Sometimes our children simply show us joy in their own beautiful way. 💙🧩

Here at Mom’Atism, we celebrate ALL of it—the big milestones, the little victories, and everything in between. Because sometimes, the most beautiful moments happen on the way to school. 🥰

Keep dancing, Jayce! 🎶💙

🤔Are you familiar with the Family Matters Fact Sheets?

It's a resource from Michigan Department of Education Office of Special Education to support you to understand the special education process and requirements.

To start the school year, Eleanor A. Harris interim director of MDE OSE, has shared a letter with parents and guardians reminding them of this resource.

🔗Read Letter to Families athttps://www.michigan.gov/mde/-/media/Project/Websites/mde/specialeducation/familymatters/Info/FM_IntLtr-Parents.pdf

These two-page Family Matters Fact Sheets offer a concise overview of special education laws, practices, and procedural safeguards, and include links to more in-depth special education system resources.

If you are interested in receiving Family Matters updates, visit the Family Matters webpage at https://www.michigan.gov/mde/services/special-education/parent-resources/family-matters to sign up to receive notifications when new information is available.

As always, we love to see and appreciate MDE sharing our information with families.

🚨 BACK-TO-SCHOOL SAFETY REMINDER FOR SPECIAL NEEDS FAMILIES 🚨

As our children head back to school, I want to remind every special-needs parent and caregiver: please make safety a priority.

With the heartbreaking situations we continue to hear about involving children being left on school buses, eloping/wandering, becoming separated from caregivers, and children being found in dangerous situations, now is the time to review your child’s safety plan.

💙 Consider investing in a tracking or locating device for your child.

There are MANY options available. Some may be free or have little to no ongoing cost, while others require a monthly subscription. Do your research and choose the option that best fits your child’s needs, abilities, comfort level, and safety risks.

Some devices may offer features such as:
📍 GPS/location tracking
🚨 Emergency alerts
🔔 Geofencing/location notifications
📞 Two-way communication
💧 Waterproof options
⌚ Wearable or discreet designs

And remember—a tracker should be an additional safety layer, not a replacement for appropriate supervision, school safety procedures, or an individualized safety plan.

If the cost is a concern, use your village. ❤️

Talk with:
• Your insurance provider
• Your child’s case manager
• Your child’s care team
• Your school/IEP team
• Family and friends
• Community organizations
• Autism and disability support organizations

Ask whether there are programs, funding sources, discounts, grants, or community assistance that may help with the cost.

Also consider making sure your child has:
✅ Updated emergency contacts
✅ Current photos available
✅ Identification information
✅ A clear elopement/wandering safety plan
✅ Important information shared with appropriate caregivers and school staff
✅ A plan for what to do if your child goes missing

Parents, we cannot control everything that happens—but we can prepare.

Our children deserve to be safe, protected, accounted for, and understood.

This isn’t about being paranoid.
This is about being prepared.

Do what you can. Use your resources. Ask for help. Build your village. And advocate fiercely for your child. 💙

💙 To the parent who feels like no one understands… this is for you. ❤️

Autism can be beautiful.
Autism can be exhausting.
Both can be true at the same time.

Some days we’re celebrating a new word, a new skill, or a new milestone.
Other days we’re navigating meltdowns, appointments, sleepless nights, and wondering if anyone else truly gets it.

At Mom’Atism, we see you.

This community isn’t about being perfect.
It’s about having people who understand the journey without needing an explanation.

Celebrate the victories.
Share the hard days.
Ask for help.
Offer encouragement.

Because no parent should have to walk this journey alone.

💙 Different doesn’t mean less.
💙 Progress is still progress.
💙 Together, we are stronger.

Tag an autism parent who needs this reminder today. ❤️
