🍽️🥰Serving Up Smiles for 18 Years — Congratulations on your retirement, Debbie!

🎉Join us as we celebrate the remarkable career of someone who has touched the lives of so many at KMHC. 🎉

Debbie joined our Dietary Department in 2008 as a dishwasher. Over the years, she worked her way up until she was helping serve meals to our Long-Term Care residents every day.

Debbie says her favorite part of the job was getting to know the residents. She loved hearing their stories while making sure they had healthy, tasty food. 🍴

When asked what she'll miss most, Debbie said it will be her coworkers. They became like a second family to her over the years.

👩🏻‍🍼✈️In retirement, Debbie is excited to travel more, especially to Illinois to visit some of her grandbabies. She looks forward to spending more time with friends and taking part in activities with her church.

Debbie's impact reaches far beyond the meals she served. She took the time to listen, share a smile, and build meaningful connections with our residents and her coworkers.

KMHC is a better place because she was here, and we will miss her more than words can say.

Debbie, we wish you the best in your retirement - know you will be dearly missed! Congratulations on this well-earned achievement! ✨

🩺 Meet Our Provider: Alexis Kilbourn, PA-C! 🩺

We're excited to bring care closer to home at Kalkaska Medical Associates: Mancelona Campus, and we're proud to have Alexis Kilbourn, PA-C on our team!

Alexis is a Northern Michigan native and loves caring for patients of all ages. She has a special passion for working with children, and as a mom of two young toddlers, she understands the questions, worries, and joys that come with caring for and supporting loved ones.

👶💕 Whether you're a parent, caregiver, grandparent, or simply looking for a trusted healthcare provider for yourself or your family, Alexis knows how important it is to have someone who listens and cares.

When she's not seeing patients, Alexis is busy keeping up with her two toddlers. As she puts it, "chasing little kids around" is practically a hobby! If you know, you know 😅

One of Alexis's favorite things about practicing in the Mancelona area is caring for multiple generations of the same family. She sometimes gets to see up to four different generations in one family, and that's something she says you can't get in larger hospital systems. Alexis has been with KMA: Mancelona since opening in 2024, but she's served patients in the area since 2022.

🏥 Looking for a new healthcare provider? Whether you're seeking care for yourself, your children, or another loved one, Alexis is here to help.

✨ MEET OUR PEOPLE: This is Barb! ✨

For 34 years, Barb has been a part of the KMHC family. She started her journey as a CENA and built her entire career right here in our community.

Along the way, she became the very first recipient of our Senior Scholarship award. Today, she serves as the RN Director of our Assisted Living Facility, helping provide a welcoming home for community members aged 55 and older.

A Forest Area High School graduate, Barb loves everything about small-town life. Whether she's hunting, fishing, line dancing with friends, or volunteering as a youth softball coach in Kalkaska and Fife Lake, she is always finding ways to support and connect with those around her.

She makes a difference every day for our residents, their families, her coworkers, and our community. Barb was asked once how she would describe working at KMHC and her response was, “Loving”. We thought she should know she’s a huge part of why that word works so well.

Barb, we genuinely cannot thank you enough for everything you do! We are so grateful you've continued to call KMAL and KMHC your home.

🌟 Help us say THANK YOU to Barb in the comments!

⚠️ALERT: The air quality in our area is still very poor. Please, if possible, stay INSIDE until conditions improve.

👉🏻 Check air quality here: https://www.airnow.gov

At this time, conditions are expected to remain poor until Friday night, with possible lingering effects heading into Saturday. Please stay safe and seek medical attention if you experience any symptoms.

🚨COMMUNITY HEALTH ALERT: AIR QUALITY🚨

🔥 Smelling smoke outside? You're not imagining it.

Wildfires in Canada are sending smoke into our area, causing hazy skies and poor air quality.

If you're an older adult, have asthma, COPD, or another lung condition, or have young children at home, it's a good idea to stay indoors as much as possible until air quality improves.

⚠️ Watch for symptoms such as:
• Dizziness
• Shortness of breath
• Wheezing
• Chest pain
• Heart palpitations

If you or a loved one experiences any of these symptoms, seek medical care right away. Please check in on family members, neighbors, and friends who may be more sensitive to smoke.

Stay safe and limit outdoor activities if the air looks or smells smoky.

🌟MEET OUR PEOPLE: This is Marianne!

Some people make a lasting impact wherever they go—and Marianne is one of them. 💯

This year marks 35 years of Marianne caring for patients at KMHC, and her journey is truly inspiring.

Marianne started her career with us as a CENA. With support from KMHC along the way, she continued her education and became an LPN, then an RN, and eventually earned her BSN. Today, she loves serving as a cardiac rehab nurse and is incredibly grateful for the opportunities and support, she's had throughout her career here at Kalkaska Memorial.

🚶🏻Her favorite part of the job is helping patients and building lasting relationships with them. Cardiac rehab helps people recover after heart-related health events and learn how to live healthier, fuller lives. Marianne is proud to be part of that journey every day.

When she's not at work, you'll likely find her kayaking, tending to her garden, or spending time with her family and Bernese Mountain Dogs, Levi and Jace. 🐾 (Check out the comments for a photo of her munchkins!)

When asked what superpower she'd choose, Marianne said she'd love the ability to heal people. 🩵 (Someone should tell her that she's been using that superpower for 35 years 🤩)

KMHC is a better place because of team members like Marianne, and we are grateful for her today and every day.

On behalf of all of KMHC: Marianne, thank you for all you do. Your impact means more than words can say.

🌟 Help us say THANK YOU to Marianne in the comments!
