Manual Therapy vs. Exercise for Neck Pain 📊

Here’s a great infographic summarizing the TAMERE RCT study (2026) on chronic nonspecific neck pain.

The Takeaway: There was no significant difference in pain reduction between the therapist-led and exercise groups, but both showed significant improvements in function and quality of life.

Clinical Implications: It highlights a complementary "eclectic approach"—using manual therapy early on to modulate pain ("opening the functional window"), followed by active exercise to reinforce movement and build long-term resilience ("building the house"). Check out the full breakdown below! 👇

technology is cleared for:
• Activation of connective tissue
• Treatment of chronic diabetic foot ulcers
• Treatment of acute second-degree burns
• Temporary increase in blood flow
• Temporary pain relief

The typical number of treatments necessary for pain pathologies for conditions are between 1-3 treatments for acute and subacute injuries and on average 3 to 6 treatments for chronic issues.

Occasionally, additional treatments may be necessary to achieve desired outcomes and can be scheduled weekly or monthly. The recommended treatment protocol is a week between the first three treatments and then two to three weeks apart for 4 to 6 treatments as patient improves.

Treating pathologies with waves or true shockwaves delivers better outcomes with fewer treatments and pulses at lower energy levels than other shockwave devices.

The down regulation of the proinflammatory response initiating the anti-inflammatory molecules traveling to the area is nearly immediately noticed by the patient as is also the accompanying elimination of pain which is what most patients recognize and
appreciate in the short term but should not be confused with long term healing and remodeling.

Beginning with the first treatment and continuing with each subsequent treatment the shockwaves are triggering the migration of stem cells to the area to further repair damaged tissue over a 12-week period. M2 Macrophages as well as increased activity at the TLR3 [Toll-like receptor 3] supporting both anti-inflammatory effects and potential regeneration of tissue has been observed in research.

While short term results are realized during the first 30 days, when treatment is accompanied by appropriate intervention to remove or
decrease the trigger of inflammation, long term results are often experienced by the patient.

• SoftWave™ Therapy is an effective approach to healing the human body using shockwaves which turn into acoustic waves once the energy has entered the body to stimulate your body's natural processes for self-repair. This technology is not new. It has been in the marketplace for over 20 years in Europe and FDA cleared in the US.

• There are no known significant negative side effects.
Inside of the applicator head, SoftWaves are created through the use of an electrode contained within a soft latex dome filled with water. When charged with electricity, the electrode creates a spark and the energy is transmitted through the water. This spark
creates a hot bubble of gas that expands into the surrounding water and produces the shockwave. This SoftWave travels out of the applicator and into the affected area being treated.

• These high energy acoustic waves pe*****te deep into damaged tissue resulting in increased mobility and significant reduction of inflammation and pain in just the first treatment. Additionally, electro-hydraulic shockwaves have proven to have a 300% increase in small, medium and large blood vessels within 12 weeks following the first treatment.

• These high energy acoustic waves cause cellular walls to become permeable allowing exosomes to escape into the interstitial tissue which triggers the migration of your body’s own stem cells to the area for sustained long-term healing over a 12 week period following the last treatment.

• Not all shockwave therapies are the same. Other companies promote acoustic wave benefits when in fact, radial devices do not produce shockwaves. They manufacture a false shockwave which is painful, creates trauma to the area and in some cases requires a numbing agent in order for the patient to tolerate the treatment. Other true shockwave devices such as focused piezoelectric and electromagnetic cause microtrauma to tissues. Our broad focused applicator with Softwave's electrohydraulic device has no evidence of macro or microtrauma to the tissues which results in faster healing times.

Overview of SoftWave Therapy

SoftWave Therapy is a non-invasive treatment that utilizes acoustic shockwaves to enhance healing in injured or inflamed soft tissues. This therapy stimulates cellular responses, leading to increased blood supply and tissue regeneration.

Key Features

- Non-Invasive: No surgery or long-term medication is required.

- Quick Sessions: Treatments typically last 10 to 20 minutes.

- Minimal Downtime: Patients can resume normal activities shortly after treatment.

How SoftWave Therapy Works

SoftWave Therapy operates by delivering acoustic shockwaves through a specialized device. This process promotes healing through several mechanisms:

- Increased Blood Flow: Enhances circulation, delivering oxygen and nutrients to damaged tissues.

- Reduced Inflammation: Helps decrease swelling and pain.

- Stem Cell Activation: Stimulates the body’s natural repair mechanisms, encouraging new cell growth.

Your treats what it sees in reels the same way it treats ***ne. Both experiences flood a thumbnail-sized region of the with —a chemical that makes you want more, right now. The problem is that after a certain amount of dopamine hits, your brain adapts by turning down the pleasure volume. As a result, things that once made you feel good are no longer enough.

If you’re finding it harder to feel simple joy and genuine connections, you’re experiencing what addiction psychiatrists now recognize as dopamine overload, a state where constant stimulation—especially from cellphones, social media, and ultra-processed foods—quietly erodes your ability to feel your happiest emotions and leaves relationships feeling painfully empty. However, there is hope—through learning to rebalance our reward systems, we can rediscover contentment in simple things.

One of the most effective ways to support your immune system is regular movement.

Moderate exercise improves blood flow so immune cells can circulate and do their job, stimulates lymphatic drainage to help clear waste and pathogens, lowers chronically elevated stress hormones like cortisol, and reduces low-grade inflammation that interferes with immune function.

Exercise helps your immune system respond more effectively when you’re exposed to viruses and other stressors, supporting faster, more coordinated immune responses without overstimulation.

Movement is medicine.
