🫶Meet The Owners🫶
As Lunova continues to grow, we thought it would be fun to introduce ourselves to everyone who has supported us along the way.
Who are you?
I'm Gabrielle Lopez, C.O.O. and co-owner of Lunova Soma
What do you do at Lunova?
I am the person behind the scenes. I handle marketing, booking events, partnerships, our website, social media, our scheduling/booking systems, finances, licensing, and business operations. If you're emailing, messaging, or texting Lunova, it's probably me you're talking to! I also helped paint and decorate Lunova! Luckily, Gage and I have very similar tastes and style 😂
Why did you decide to open a wellness business?
It just so happened that my particular set of skills and experience matched Gage's, and together we made the perfect team to turn his dream of a massage studio into reality. Massage therapy is also near and dear to my heart since my dad has been doing massage therapy and Reflexology for the last 30 years, so I have always been around it.
What is your favorite part about owning a small business?
The relationships, meeting new people, and the incredible amount of support and love we feel from our small business neighbors and this town!
What is the biggest lesson you've learned as a business owner?
Growth happens outside your comfort zone. The most rewarding things are usually the ones that challenge you the most.
What is something most people don't know about you?
I have spent nearly two decades building a career in corporate healthcare. I have a background in Marketing and Communications. I spent 3 amazing years working for local veteran non-profit Project Headspace and Timing, which is near and dear to my heart. I also have an 18-year-old who just graduated from BBCHS and an 8th grader, and I bartend on the side!
What do you enjoy doing when you're not working?
Spending time with my family, supporting local businesses, attending community events, TRAVELING, attending concerts, and finding new ways to grow personally and professionally.
Coffee, tea, or neither?
Coffee.
What is your idea of a perfect day off?
A slow morning, a good book, great food, and absolutely no schedule.
What is your favorite self-care practice?
Massage, of course. Getting my nails done is a close second. But I also believe self-care includes setting boundaries, resting when needed, and making time for things that bring you joy.
What is your favorite thing about the Kankakee community?
The people. This community genuinely shows up to support one another.
Comedy, Horror, Drama, Romance, Action, Musical, Sci-Fi?
Drama, Musicals, and Comedy all the way!
What is one goal you have for Lunova?
To become a well-known trusted place where people think of wellness, relaxation, and healing first.
What is one thing you wish more people understood about massage therapy?
Massage isn't a luxury. It is an important part of managing stress, recovery, pain, and overall wellness. Also, men need massages too! I would love to lower the stigma about men getting massages.
What would you like to know about me? Ask me anything in the comments. I'd love to get to know all of you better.
