For me personally, having too many things in too many places makes me feel physically & mentally scattered. Like my mind’s being pulled in different directions & I can’t wrap my brain or arms around all my stuff. Since purging most of my belongings two years ago, I feel lighter, freer & more able to enjoy the things I do have. It’s a daily practice to maintain though, since I’m a collector at heart!

Clearing your home is 100% connected to clearing your mind. And vice versa, honestly. Both are about untethering yourself from things within you & around you so you can move forward & expand & grow & transform.

Spring is on the horizon! Although spring cleaning is typically focused on cleaning our physical spaces it may be time to think about the mental “clutter” we are holding onto. So, what are some ways we can apply spring cleaning to our mental health?

While journaling cannot replace therapy, it can provide some similar benefits. Journaling allows us to get our thoughts onto paper, can serve as a source to identify difficult feelings, record highs and lows and promote feelings of calmness. Additionally, traditional spring cleaning can be beneficial for our mental health because clutter can be overwhelming to our minds. Cleaning, de-cluttering and organizing allow us to reframe our focus and process with greater clarity. It can seem mind-boggling to clean so take things slow initially. Start with a small area that you frequently utilize like a desk or a drawer. Then move on to larger tasks as you feel more comfortable.
