University Health University Health is a not-for-profit, two acute-care hospital health system in Kansas City.

The UH Health System includes University Health Truman Medical Center, University Health Lakewood Medical Center, University Health Behavioral Health, the Jackson County Health Department and a number of primary care practices throughout Eastern Jackson County. UH is the primary teaching hospital for the University of Missouri-Kansas City Schools of Medicine, Nursing, Dentistry and Pharmacy and specializes in Chronic Disease Management, high risk pregnancies, orthopaedics, trauma services, and women’s health. Instead of BOO! These cute little Halloween babies will have you saying AWWW!

A big thank you to our amazing NICU nurses. Not only do they care for our tiniest patients, they also show off their creative side with some adorable costumes – from a cute caterpillar and two peas in a pod to milk and cookies and even golden fries under the arches.

We hope these adorable bundles bring a smile to your face. Here’s to a spook-tacular weekend!

For parents of children with , Halloween can be scary—for very real reasons. Those tiny treats can contain seven of top nine food allergens. Colleen Mathis, MD, a pediatrician at University Health, advises that parents of trick-or-treaters with allergies carry two auto-injectors of epinephrine—name brands EpiPen or AuviQ-- or the newer intranasal version called Neffy. She said the two epinephrine devices should always be carried together to re-dose in case allergic symptoms persist or worsen within 5-10 minutes.

Going beyond our four walls to bring health care to you, that’s what University Health does.

Last weekend, UH staff joined the Discover Independence Plaza Neighborhood event at Prospect Park, connecting with community members of all ages.

Our team helped people schedule primary care appointments, check their Medicaid coverage or apply for coverage, and behavioral health specialists shared resources for 988 Su***de & Crisis Lifeline.

University Health’s new, state-of-the-art Electrophysiology (EP) Lab is officially up and running. The new lab expands our ability to provide advanced cardiac diagnostic and interventional procedures, including ablations to treat atrial fibrillation and atrial flutter.

Dr. Michael Giocondo leads the new lab and brings to UH 19 years of experience performing EP procedures. We’re excited about what this means for our patients.💙💛
