9/11 Memorial stair climb at Arrowhead with the Shoulder Squad. 110 flights and all proceeds go to the Surviving Spouse and Family Endowment Fund (SAFE). Great time and a great cause. Congrats to Lexi Johnson on the awesome event!

Grateful for the opportunity to serve as faculty for this Enovis course focused on total joint replacement in the ambulatory surgery center (ASC).

It was a unique opportunity to bring together upper and lower extremity joint surgeons to share perspectives and experiences.

I perform the vast majority of my total shoulder replacements in the ASC and have found this approach to be incredibly beneficial for both patients and surgeons.

Always great to share ideas and learn from colleagues as we continue to advance outpatient joint replacement.

Hi! I’m Dr. Michael Boin, a board-certified, fellowship-trained shoulder and elbow surgeon in Kansas City.

I completed my shoulder and elbow fellowship at NYU Hospital for Joint Diseases and now specialize in complex shoulder and elbow conditions, including rotator cuff repair, complex and revision shoulder replacement, and advanced surgical technology.

Most recently, I helped design and performed the world’s first ARVIS™ augmented reality-navigated shoulder replacement.

I’m passionate about not only taking care of patients, but also teaching and advancing the field of shoulder surgery. I’ve had the opportunity to lecture to surgeons across the U.S., Europe, and Latin America on advanced shoulder techniques and technology.

I grew up in Osceola, Missouri, attended the UMKC School of Medicine, and completed my orthopedic residency at Wright State University.

Outside the operating room, I’m a husband, dad, and lifelong sports fan. I enjoy traveling with my family, training in our garage gym, and following F1, the Chiefs, Royals, and Rangers.

Thinking about shoulder replacement but worried about your golf game? ⛳️

A new multicenter study found that nearly 9 out of 10 golfers returned to playing after shoulder replacement surgery — and most said their performance stayed the same or even improved. Most golfers were back on the course within 3-6 months after surgery.

The AAOS recently updated their Clinical Practice Guidelines for treatment of rotator cuff tears. There is now a strong recommendation for augmenting rotator cuff repairs with bioinductive implants. This was made based on high quality evidence which shows that augmentation decreases retear rates and improves patient outcomes. Who else is a fan of augmenting cuff repairs?
