I have always been highly sensitive and felt very deeply since I was a child. I am very fortunate to be able to say that my childhood was truly filled with love and something I cherish. I have also always been a daddy's girl and loved being with him every moment I was able to. My mom still recounts to me that it was only when my dad held me after I was born that I stopped crying.
In January 2025, my father was diagnosed with cancer. I held in my grief for quite some time until I poured it all out in a parking lot while talking to my mom on the phone. Although he had always been in the same city, he has lived in another state for several years now. At the same time, my ex-boyfriend had a moving van at my home and he was moving his things out after a challenging verbally abusive 2 year relationship. I felt my world falling apart, for more reasons than one. My ex-boyfriend had a 4 year old son that I loved deeply since I met him when he was 2 years old. I made a room in my home for him and struggled with the thought of not being able to see him anymore. Although I was not his mother, he was the closest I have felt to being a mom. After I returned home to his empty room, I noticed the only thing my ex left was his son's crib and he refused to do anything with it. Through my tears, I cleaned it, took it apart and gave it away to a very pregnant mom on Facebook marketplace. My heart shattered into pieces a little more.
I was reminded that all I had ever prayed to God for was for my Father to still be here when I had my own children. Even before my father's diagnosis, the devil challenged him in many ways and I did my best to support my Father through it while growing up. Growing up as an only child, I remember my mom leaving for work on Christmas at 5am and I would be alone for most of the day. I have been alone inside my relationships and even now feeling misunderstood in my spiritual journey. In my deep isolation, I turned to tarot for guidance, not for control. For a voice outside of myself to help me move one foot in front of the other. I talked to God, the Angels, to my Ancestors and felt grounded in my body.
One day, I met a lovely spiritual teacher that held a meditation for women. In my grief and loneliness, I attended every month all of 2025. She told me she was an Angel Reiki Master and I had never heard of it. She told me about energy healing for the self and for others, even through distance. I fully lit up! My motivation for starting on my reiki journey was to send healing to my father as he battled cancer. And I am so blessed to say my father became cancer free after a roller coaster of a year.
Many people turn to Spirituality or witchcraft due to trauma and loss of power from experiences that they have endured throughout their life. But I am blessed to say that was not my path nor my motivation. "Witch Upon A Star" came to me in a string of words while I was becoming certified on my reiki journey. I woke up out of my sleep and wrote it down. I pulled tarot in the middle of the night and asked if that was from God. "Yes". That is where the name of my business comes from. Not from darkness, evil, or from harm. But from a healed inner child, a love of magic, and a dire need for a miracle. "The Star" in the tarot represents wish fulfillment, spiritual guidance, alignment, miracles, and for me it represents God. God entrusting me with the path of a healer to help others, including my own father. It was important to me to include this star in my logo.
My star is my father bearing witness to my own family that I pray to have one day. To see him hold my children as he one held me in his arms. I do not know if I will receive that blessing, but I have surrendered control of it to God's timing. I follow this spiritual path that God is leading me on to help others as a practitioner, hoping that one day he will grant me my wish. That is why I remain unshakable even in the face of spiritual warfare, free-masons, baneful witches, and staring at my own shadow.
Witch Upon A Star is not a product of darkness, harm, force, or deceit. It was born from a daughter's love, hoping to fulfill the path that God has for me.
