Please learn to meditate. Preferably from my meditation teacher, , and the incredible team at .

And no, no one is paying me to say this. I genuinely feel compelled to pass this along because of what this practice has done for my life.

Dharma Moon’s Meditation Teacher Training doesn’t just teach meditation. It initiates you into becoming an actual lifelong practitioner. The benefits for me keep unfolding in ways I honestly couldn’t have predicted when I started.

More presence. More sanity. More awareness of my own mind. More ability to actually be with my life instead of constantly escaping it.

The next cohort starts in June, and I think they’re offering a discount right now.

DM me and I’ll send you the link. David also offers 1:1 calls beforehand if you want to ask questions or get a feel for the program.

Ok, back to your regularly scheduled distraction.

I think a lot of people confuse authenticity with giving a highly self-aware, emotionally comprehensive account of themselves.

But sometimes the polished, fully explained version of you is actually the safest version.

Subjective truth is often much messier than that.

Partial.
Unresolved.
Awkward.
Still forming while you’re speaking.

I’ve started noticing how often people give “complete” answers instead of honest ones. Including me.

There’s a difference between reporting the full picture and reporting what is actually alive in you right now.

That distinction has changed the way I think about therapy, communication, vulnerability, and intimacy.

The full essay is called “The Case for Subjective Answers” on my Substack. DM me “Substack” for the linky poo.

There’s a really important distinction here.

I am not talking about numbing out.
I am not talking about avoiding, bypassing, or pushing feelings away.

I believe in feeling your feelings.

But feeling something
and living inside it
are not the same thing.

What I’m pointing to is this:

When your mind narrows around sadness,
it can start to feel like that’s all there is.

And in that state, it’s easy to lose contact
with everything else that’s also here.

Your body.
Other emotions.
Other parts of you.
The actual moment you’re in.

The work isn’t to get rid of the feeling.

It’s to include it
as part of a much bigger experience.

To widen your awareness enough
that sadness is there…
but it’s not the only place you’re living.

That’s very different than repression.

That’s presence.

If you want a deeper breakdown of this,
I wrote more about it on Substack.

There is a version of me that thought leaving was growth.

But really, I just didn’t know how to stay and face what was mine. So I chose something new.

Healing started when I realized I couldn’t outrun myself.

being right about what you deserved
won’t actually set you free

it keeps you tethered
to something that already happened

and at some point
you have to decide

do you want to stay in that loop
or do you want to move forward

full piece is on Substack, DM “Substack” for the link. ✌️

paraphrasing
feelings are visitors, not who you are 🙏

The jab feels good for a reason.

It cuts through overwhelm
and gives you a quick hit of relief.

But your partner doesn’t experience it as relief.
They experience it as harm.

And over time
that shapes how safe the relationship feels.

The shift is learning to pause
right when you want to go there.
