Peggy Dee Butterfield, beloved mother, grandmother, partner, sister, aunt, friend, and a second mom to so many, passed away peacefully at her home on September 8, 2026. She was born on April 13, 1949, in Dodge City, Kansas, to Wilbur and Leah Atkinson.
Peggy was a woman with a heart bigger than words could ever describe. She was one of the most nurturing, caring, and loving people anyone could have the privilege of knowing. Peggy had a special way of making people feel welcomed, loved, and cared for. She never hesitated to take someone under her wing when they needed a little extra love or guidance. Over the years, she made a lasting impact on countless lives and earned the cherished title of “Mom” from many who were not her children by blood, but were family in every way that mattered.
Peggy loved shopping, with a particular love for jewelry, and enjoyed trips to the casino. She also loved spending time outdoors, especially camping and swimming. More than anything, Peggy treasured the people in her life. Her friends and family meant the world to her, and she had a gift for creating memories and making those around her feel like they belonged.
Above all else, Peggy valued the close bond she shared with her son, Kable Butterfield Sr., and her grandson, Kable Butterfield Jr. The love she had for her family was immeasurable, and the memories she created with them will remain a treasured part of her legacy.

Verla Jean Beachboard, 90, passed away early Sunday morning, September 6, 2026. She was born on March 24, 1936, the daughter of Ross and Lena Harris.

Verla was preceded in death by her husband Duane Beachboard; daughter Sandra Mudgett; both of her parents; brothers Ray Harris, Rudolph Harris, and John Harris; and sisters Vera Blythe and Velma Davis.
She is survived by her daughter Mavis Morrell; grandchildren Kimberly Durnin, Scott Morrell (Angela), Stacy Cox, Patrick Brentlinger (Danielle), and Kristen Franklin (Patrick); great grandchildren Zachary, Allison, Michael, Mackenzie, David, John, Caleb, Jackson, Elizabeth, Aeriana, Isabel, Liam, Jaxon, Matthew, and Silas; great great grandchildren Charlie and Madeline and one more great great grandchild, George, on the way; sisters Bonnie and Beulah Harris; and many nieces and nephews.

A visitation for Verla will be held at Maple Hill Funeral Home on Tuesday evening,September 15, 2026 from 6:00 - 8:00 PM. A funeral service will be held at Maple Hill Funeral Home on Wednesday morning, September 16, 2026 at 10:00 AM with burial to follow at Maple Hill Cemetery.

Sharon Kay Truitt, 84, passed away early in the afternoon on Thursday, September 3, 2026. She was born on December 18, 1941, the daughter of Wilbur and Evelyn Williams.

Sharon will be remembered for a lot of things including her dedicated service of 35 years to the Turner School District.

Sharon was preceded in death by both of her parents, daughter Tammy DeCaney, and brother Gary Williams.
She is survived by her husband Robert Truitt, son Jeff Truitt (Jane), daughter Denise McGill (Lonnie), son in law Chris DeCaney, six grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, and one great-great-great grandchild.

Mike Smith,73, of Kansas City Kansas, passed away on September 1,2026
A memorial Visitation will be held from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 5, 2026, at Overland Park Assembly of God in Overland Park, Kansas. A memorial service celebrating Mike's life will follow at 11:00 a.m.
Mike was born on October 11,1952, in Kansas City Kansas, the son of Carl and Anna Mae Smith.
He spent nearly 30 years working alongside his brothers and nephews at United Bakery Equipment Company, where he built not only a career, but lasting memories with his family.
Mike had a passion for riding his Harley. He enjoyed hitting the open road alongside his wife, his brother, friends and church family. He was also an avid Kansas City Chiefs fan and loved cheering on his team.
Mike enjoyed gathering with family and friends for cookouts and especially loved cooking.
In 2016, Mike dedicated his life to Christ, and his faith became an important part of who he was. His love for the Lord, his family and those around him will be remembered by all who knew and loved him.

Joyce Lynn Dickerson, 73, passed away early Tuesday morning, September 1, 2026 in her home, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on September 26, 1952, the daughter of Bertie and Lois (Golden) Hague.

Joyce was preceded in death by both of her parents and her sister Kathy Bender.
She is survived by her husband Dennis Dickerson; daughters Shellie Stuart (Tracy) and Tina Gladieux (Aaron); grandchildren Cheyenne Colbert (Matt), Dakota Stuart (Shelby), Jake Gladieux, and Emilie Gladieux; great grandchildren Easton, Rhylynn, Daphne, Carsyn, Charlee, and Ruthie; brothers Gary Hague, Larry Hague, and Ronnie Hague; and many loving friends.

Joyce was never a formal person, so the family requests everyone to wear their comfy, casual clothes.

The family would also like, in lieu of flowers, donations to be made to St. Jude’s or Children’s Mercy Hospital.

Helen Madrigal, 93, of Kansas City, MO passed away Saturday August 29, 2026 at Trustwell Living of Raytown surrounded by her loving family. She was born on August 28, 1933 in Richmond, MO the daughter of Jesus and Carmen Rendon. Helen loved her home and those she cared for. She had a love for gardening, especially her flowers. She enjoyed watching the Chiefs, Victor in The Young & the Restless, and her weekly trips to Costco with Mary Ann. She is preceded in death by her husband of 68 years, Joe P. Madrigal; her parents, Jesus Rendon and Carmen Hernandez; son, Joseph L. Madrigal; and sister Maria Adelicia Rodriguez. She is survived by her sons, Michael Madrigal (Mary Ann) and Steven Madrigal (Maritza); daughter, Anna Loyd (Mike); daughter-in-law Sylvia Madrigal; 18 grandchildren; 31 great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; siblings, Celia Marquez, Richard Rendon (Patsy), Rudy Hernandez (Pam), Ray Hernandez (Janet), Rose Rendon Klint (Jerry), Delia Marin, Adolof Morino (Teresa) and many nieces and nephews.
A funeral mass will be held at 11:00 AM, Friday, October 16, 2026 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church with a luncheon to follow. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to Ascend Hospice and Trustwell Living of Raytown in appreciation for the exceptional care they provided to Helen and her family.

Stephanie Butler was born July 7, 1984, and passed away on August 23, 2026. She was the daughter of Faith Gochenour and Darrell Wade Butler. She was one of four children. Stephanie was a devoted mother who raised four extraordinary children: Gabryella Ribeiro, Liliana Valadez, Izacc Butler, and Angelo Alexander-Butler.

Stephanie loved spending time with her family and was especially proud to watch her children grow into the people they are today. She treasured the memories they made together, from birthdays and holidays to cookouts, family gatherings, and the everyday moments that meant the most.

She was known for her laughter, her jokes, and her fun-loving personality. Stephanie was not only a loving mother, but also the fun aunt who could make people laugh and bring joy to those around her. Her family and friends will remember her for the happiness and laughter she brought into our lives.

Stephanie will live on through her four children, Gabryella, Liliana, Izacc, and Angelo; her mother, Faith Gochenour and her father Darrell Wade Butler; her siblings, Ashley Butler, Jason Butler and Riley Harmon; and many extended family members and friends.

Her greatest legacy will always be her four children she loved deeply and her enduring efforts throughout her life. Though her story ended far too soon, the next chapters of her children’s lives will carry pieces of her with them wherever we go.

Lydia Rocha, 80, of Kansas City, KS, passed away peacefully on August 25, 2026, at Riverbend Post Acute. She was born on May 6, 1946, in Donna, Texas, the daughter of Gilbert and Martha Ibarra.

Lydia was a devoted wife and loving mother who cherished her family above all else. She found great joy in caring for those she loved. In her free time, Lydia enjoyed gardening and taking pride in tending to her flowers. Her love, kindness, and devotion to her family will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew her.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Gilbert Rocha, Jr.; daughter Hiliana Rocha. She is survived by her children, Gustavo Rocha (Maria), Santiago Rocha (Jeanie), Geronimo Rocha (Delilah), Gilbert Rocha, Robert Conover (Dora), Debra Conover; and grandchildren.

Wayne Lee Davis, 68, of Overland Park, Kansas, passed away at his home on August 26, 2026. He was born on February 10, 1958, in San Jose, California, the son of William and Hazel Davis.

From an early age, Wayne developed a passion for automobiles, working alongside his father on transmissions. What began as a childhood interest grew into a lifelong career and love for working on cars as a mechanic. He especially enjoyed running fuel cars and took great pride in the work he did.

Outside of his work, Wayne enjoyed fishing and was always willing to lend a helping hand to those around him. He had a generous heart and was someone others could count on whenever they needed him. Wayne also had a deep love for his pets, who were cherished members of his family, including his dogs, Frank, Samron, and Maddie, and his beloved parrot, CoCo.

Wayne will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Debra Bryant; his daughters, Christy Ann Davis, Denise Lee Anderson, and Mirissa Terrial Cribbet; his grandchildren, Zain, Ashlin, Bradley, and Valarie; his brothers, Larry Dean Davis and Danny Earl Davis; his great-grandchildren; and numerous other relatives and loved ones.

Alex Christopher McGuire, of McLouth, Kansas, was born on November 17, 2002, in Shawnee, Kansas, to Randall C. and Jessica M. McGuire. Alex passed away on August 20, 2026.
Alex was a kind, loving person who cherished spending time with his family. A true homebody, he was happiest in the comfort of home and surrounded by the people and things he loved most. He had a wonderful imagination and a passion for writing stories. At just 14 years old, Alex wrote an entire book, a remarkable accomplishment that reflected his creativity and love of writing.
Alex also enjoyed anime and playing video games. Some of his favorite memories were made playing Minecraft with his mom. His love for his family was evident in the way he enjoyed simply being with them, making ordinary moments special.
Alex will be deeply missed by his parents, Randall and Jessica McGuire; his brother, Warren McGuire; his grandparents, Tammy and David McGuire and Mike and Susan Hallstrom; and his many aunts, uncles, and cousins. He will also be lovingly remembered by his beloved cat, Blake, who was an important part of his life.
He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Larry Blevins, and his sister, Veronica McGuire.
