🌟 Rue is a wonderful part of our 1301 Activity team, always willing to go above and beyond for the residents she serves. Her helpful nature, upbeat attitude, and dedication make a difference every day.

🌟 Clara is the definition of a team player in our 1201 building. Whether she’s stepping in as a cook or server, in Independent Living or Assisted Living, she brings flexibility, reliability, and a strong work ethic wherever she’s needed.

🇺🇸 History came to life at McCrite Plaza!

We were thrilled to welcome a sold-out crowd for A Tribute to Truman, presented by local entertainer Ken Remmert.

Guests enjoyed an engaging look at the life of Missouri's own President Harry S. Truman—from his humble beginnings and unexpected path to the presidency to the difficult decisions that shaped history. Ken's captivating storytelling made the afternoon both educational and entertaining, sparking great conversation long after the presentation ended.

Thank you to everyone who joined us and to Ken Remmert for sharing such a memorable tribute to one of our nation's most remarkable presidents.

More than quilts. More than 20 years of friendship. ❤️

Long before Becky made McCrite Plaza home, she and a group of dear friends began meeting for Bible study. More than two decades later, they're still gathering, still encouraging one another, and still celebrating life's blessings together.

Over the years, Becky lovingly handcrafted a quilt for each member of the group—a gift stitched together with patience, talent, and love.

The top photo captures these special women years ago with their quilts. The second was taken recently in the lobby of Becky's home here at McCrite Plaza, where they reunited once again with the beautiful quilts she made for each of them.

Some friendships truly stand the test of time, and we're honored that Becky continues to share her remarkable story and talents with our community. 💙

🎉 Congratulations to our May Employees of the Month, Matthew Gauer and Kaylen Smith! 🎉

Matthew Gauer, Dietary Aide for our 1201 Building (Independent and Assisted Living Apartments), is known for his positive attitude, strong work ethic, and willingness to lend a helping hand. He brings pride and dedication to everything he does, making a difference for both his teammates and the residents we serve.

Kaylen Smith, LPN for our 1301 Building (Memory Care, Assisted Living Plus, and Skilled Nursing), exemplifies what it means to be a true team player. Whether she's picking up extra shifts, going above and beyond for residents, or jumping in to help wherever she's needed, Kaylen's commitment and compassion shine through every day.

Growing Together | Part Two: Look What We Grew! 🌿

A few weeks ago, we shared the very beginning of our raised garden season.

Now look at them!

Tomatoes are growing, flowers are blooming, and vegetables are thriving throughout our resident gardens. Every watering, every sunny afternoon, and every little bit of care has helped transform these beds into something beautiful.

Just as rewarding as watching the gardens grow has been watching neighbors share gardening tips, compare progress, and celebrate each new bloom together.

We can't wait to see what the rest of the season brings. 🌼🍅🥬

This year, we celebrate more than our nation's independence—we celebrate 250 years of America's story.

For many in our community, this day is especially meaningful. Our residents have lived through decades of our nation's history, witnessed incredible change, and helped shape the communities we call home today.

As we gather with family and friends, we honor the generations who came before us, celebrate the freedoms we enjoy today, and look ahead with gratitude and hope.

Growing Together | Part One: Every Garden Starts Somewhere 🌱

There’s something special about the beginning of a garden.

Earlier this spring, our raised garden beds were filled with fresh soil, tiny seedlings, and lots of optimism. Residents selected their vegetables and flowers, personalized their garden beds, and got to work planting, watering, and dreaming about what the season would bring.

The tiles are clicking, strategies are forming, and friendships are growing!

What started as a new club has quickly become one of the most popular games in town. Residents continue to gather each week to learn, laugh, and test their Mahjong skills. Some are seasoned players, while others are discovering the game for the very first time.

One thing’s for sure: everyone is having a great time. 😊

🦜✨ Feathers, fascination, and a few new friends!

Residents recently enjoyed a special visit from Yvonne and the incredible team at Wings of Love, a nonprofit organization dedicated to educating others about exotic birds and conservation efforts.

From colorful macaws to other beautiful feathered ambassadors, residents had the opportunity to interact with these remarkable birds up close while learning about their natural habitats, the environmental challenges they face, and the important role they play in our world.

There were plenty of smiles, questions, and even some laughs throughout the visit. Thank you to Yvonne and Wings of Love for sharing your passion and bringing these amazing creatures to our community!
