I pulled together the 5 things I wish every family knew before things fell apart. Because "fine" doesn't last forever, and waiting for a crisis is the hardest way to figure this out.

It's a quick read and I hope it helps.

In my work with aging adults and their families, I've noticed a pattern. By the time most people find me, something has already happened β€” a fall, a hospitalization, a moment where it became impossible to ignore that things needed to change. And almost every time, someone in the family says some v...

Something I hear constantly in my work β€” from aging adults and their adult children alike β€” is guilt.

Guilt about asking for too much. Guilt about not doing enough. Guilt about wanting a break, or needing one.

It's one of the most universal parts of the aging journey, and one of the least talked about. So I wrote about it, for both sides of the table.
