Ever wonder why there are so many people in the LASIK suite?

Each member of our team has a specific role. We have two scrub technicians who assist the surgeon with sterile instruments, two certified staff members who operate our lasers for LASIK and PRK, and a circulator who is there to assist the team and help keep the patient comfortable throughout the procedure.

It takes a full team working together to make sure everything runs safely and smoothly from start to finish!

Jacob from our Research Department recently spent some time with our team doing small-group Slit Lamp Photography Training!

A slit lamp gives us a magnified, detailed view of the eye and allows us to capture photos that can be used to document and track changes over time.

We're also proud to celebrate another exciting milestone! Dr. Moyes has been named the 2026 Best Northland Eye Surgeon in the Best of the Northland Awards.

This recognition is especially meaningful because it comes from the patients and communities we're honored to serve. While the award recognizes Dr. Moyes, it is truly a reflection of the dedication, compassion, and hard work of our entire Moyes Eye Center team.

We're excited to welcome Cooper Rodgers, M.D., to Moyes Eye Center this September!

A Kansas City native, Dr. Rodgers completed his medical training at the University of Kansas School of Medicine and his ophthalmology residency at the University of Florida. He specializes in cataract and refractive surgery and provides comprehensive medical eye care, including the treatment of glaucoma, macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, and other eye diseases.

Dr. Rodgers is passionate about delivering exceptional, patient-centered care and is excited to return home to serve the Kansas City community.

Please join us in giving Dr. Rodgers a warm welcome! We look forward to introducing him to you and your patients this fall.

Moyes Eye Center is pleased to announce that Marina Rios, O.D. has joined the practice and will begin seeing patients in August. Dr. Rios is a Kansas City native who earned her bachelor's degree from Park University before attending Nova Southeastern University in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, there she received her Doctor of Optometry degree and an additional bachelor's degree in Vision Science.

Following optometry school, Dr. Rios completed an Ocular Disease residency with an emphasis in anterior segment disease and refractive surgery at Moyes Eye Center in Kansas City. Her advanced training allows her to provide comprehensive eye care with a special interest in the diagnosis and management of ocular disease, as well as refractive surgery care.

Dr. Rios enjoys staying active by playing golf, spending time outdoors, and discovering new places to walk or run. She also values spending quality time with her family and friends.
