Court Jails Fake Spiritualist for Sextortion in Abuja



Justice C.N. Nwabulu of the Federal High Court, Abuja, on Tuesday, September 8, 2026, convicted and sentenced a fake spiritualist, Solomon Odigie Moses, to one year imprisonment.

Moses was arraigned on one-count charge bordering on cheating and posing as a spiritualist, thereby defrauding and obtaining the sum of $1,100(One Thousand, One Hundred United States Dollars) from an Indian lady seeking spiritual healing.

Moses, who was arrested in Ekpoma, Edo state, received and laundered the $1100, via his Zelle payment platform, and the Naira equivalent was paid into his local bank account.

The convict subsequently deceived her into taking a naked spiritual bath, which he recorded live without her permission, and thereafter blackmailed her to send him money, else he would make the video public.

Investigation by the EFCC revealed that the victim had to pay the sum of $1,100 to the suspect in order to prevail on him not to release her nudity to the public.

The charge against him read: “That you Solomon Odigie Moses(A.K.A DR SOLOMON) sometimes in 2026 in Abuja, within the jurisdiction of this Honourable Court did fraudulently impersonate a spiritual leader named Dr. Solomon on a fictitious Tiktok account and obtained the sum of $1100(One Thousand One Hundred Dollars) from an Indian lady by name Sharon Kaur, for the purpose of spiritual prayer and assistance, thereby committing an offence contrary to Section 321 of the Penal Code Act(Abuja)LLFN, 1990 and punishable under Section 322 of the same Act.”

He pleaded “guilty”, following which the prosecution counsel, Maryam Hayatudeen, urged the court to convict and sentence him accordingly.

In his ruling, Justice Nwabulu convicted and sentenced Moses to one year imprisonment with an option of fine of N300,000(Three Hundred Thousand Naira).

The judge further directed that the $1,100 proceeds of crime be forfeited to the victim through EFCC.

Apostle Arome Osayi has shared his personal testimony of enduring years of prayer, financial struggles, ministry challenges and repeated disappointments before experiencing what he describes as a major turning point in his ministry.

According to him, there was “no sign” for 14 years that many of his prayers were being answered, despite consistent prayer, fasting and intercession.

He recalled living in an inexpensive neighbourhood to save money for ministry, struggling with poor church finances and experiencing several visa rejections. Yet, he said he continued praying.

“Do not interpret that affliction the wrong way. For 14 years, there was no sign that our prayers were answered.”

Osayi also recounted spiritual experiences that he interpreted as encounters with witchcraft and later described praying for a woman who could not walk. According to his testimony, the woman subsequently began walking—an event he says became pivotal in taking his ministry to a wider audience.

He said that moment came in the 17th year of his journey of prayer.

His central message was that believers should not automatically interpret prolonged difficulty or unanswered prayer as evidence that God has abandoned them, but should remain faithful through what he described as their own “journey of prayer.”

Internationally renowned bodybuilder and celebrity fitness coach Einar Méndez has d ed at the age of 48 after suffering what his widow described as a sudden heart att@ck while working out at a gym in Mexico City.

Méndez, a Mexico-based father of three, was pronounced de@d on Friday, September 4, 2026, shortly before he was scheduled to travel to New York for the first time.

His wife of 30 years, Yan, announced his d ath on Instagram, describing him as the love of her life and saying the family was still struggling to come to terms with the sudden loss.

“We are all still in shock. He left suddenly, at the gym, doing what he loved most: working out,” she wrote.

In a video shared online, Yan described her late husband as strong, resilient and kind, adding that everyone who knew him understood the kind of person he was.

Méndez, who had described himself as a national and international bodybuilding champion, built a reputation as a fitness trainer and worked with several notable clients, including Mexico-based Nicaraguan television host Martha Debayle.

Debayle said Méndez collapsed during the workout, although no official cause of death has been publicly confirmed.

Remembering him, Debayle highlighted his life beyond bodybuilding, describing him as Yan’s husband of 30 years and a devoted father to their three daughters.

Méndez was also a fitness influencer with nearly 47,000 followers on Instagram and was widely remembered as a dedicated family man.

Court Grants 67-Year-Old UK-based Nigerian Grandma Facing Trial Over 13kg C%caine Disguised as Plantain at Lagos Airport ₦150m Bail A Federal High Court in Lagos has granted ₦150 million bail to 67-year-old Mrs Mary Yetunde Barek, who is facing trial for trafficking 13 kilogrammes of c%caine to the United Kingdom.

Justice Friday Ogazi granted the bail with two sureties in like sum. The sureties must reside within the court’s jurisdiction and own landed property worth at least ₦150 million.

They are also required to provide proof of property ownership and evidence of tax payments for three years. Barek, who resides in the United Kingdom, was ordered to deposit her British international passport with the court and remain in Nigeria throughout the trial unless granted permission to travel.

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) accused Barek of exporting and transporting 13kg of c%caine disguised as plantain to the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos, for onward shipment to the UK. According to the agency, the offence occurred on June 28, 2026, during the outward clearance of passengers on a Virgin Atlantic flight at Terminal 2 of the airport in Ikeja.

The NDLEA alleged that Barek transported the co***ne from her residence on Alhaji Azeez Ajanaku Street, Okota, Lagos, to the airport for export. She was arraigned in August and pleaded not guilty to the charges, which the NDLEA said contravene Section 11(b) of the NDLEA Act. Following the arraignment, the prosecution opposed her bail application, while her lawyer cited her health condition.

The court subsequently granted bail on the stated conditions and ordered that Barek must not leave Nigeria without its permission pending the determination of the case.

BRITISH ACTOR NOEL CLARKE CHARGED WITH 6 S XUAL OFFENCES INVOLVING 5 WOMEN

British actor Noel Clarke, 50, has been charged with six s xual offences involving five women following an investigation by the Metropolitan Police in London.

It was stated that the Crown Prosecution Service CPS authorised the charges on Wednesday after detectives submitted a file of evidence.

Clarke faces two counts of s xual a§§ault, three counts of voyeurism and one count of exposure over incidents said to have occurred between 2007 and 2016.

The Metropolitan Police said the offences involve five women and that the investigation began in September 2025. Clarke was first arrested on September 25, 2025, before detectives submitted evidence to the CPS for a charging decision
Detective Superintendent Mike Cagney, who is leading the investigation, said the women connected to the charges were receiving support from specially trained officers. He also urged anyone who had been a victim of s xual a§§ault to contact police, saying information provided would be handled sensitively.

Bethan David, Deputy Chief Crown Prosecutor for CPS London, said prosecutors had determined that there was sufficient evidence to prosecute Clarke and that bringing the case to court was in the public interest.

The CPS warned against public commentary that could prejudice the proceedings, stressing that Clarke has the right to a fair trial. The charges are and have not been proven in court.

Clarke is due to appear before Westminster Magistrates’ Court in London on October 21, 2026.

The charges come amid years of allegations concerning the actor. In 2021, It was published that an investigation detailing of s xual misconduct made by several women, which Clarke denied. He later pursued a libel case against the newspaper but lost in 2025.

Clarke, known for writing and starring in Kidulthood and for his role in Doctor Who, was also arrested in February 2026 over attempted r@pe, exposure and s xual a§§ault by touching relating to an 2007 incident.

Flood Sweeps 13-yr-Old Student Away From his dad’s Motorcycle while On their Way To School in Abuja

A 13-year-old Junior Secondary School JSS student, Alhassan Jamil, has been swept away by flood in the Gwagwalada Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory FCT, Abuja.

Jamil, a student of Ihyau El-Burhan Academy, Phase 3, Gwagwalada, was on his way to school with his father, Jamil Maikasuwa, on Wednesday when tragedy struck.

Narrating the incident, Maikasuwa said he had picked up his son on his motorcycle to drop him at school. However, while crossing a double cell culvert, they encountered fast moving floodwater.

“Upon discovering that the flood water was coming on high speed, I applied brake but my son, out of fear, jumped from the bike and suddenly fell into the flood water,” he said.

He said he immediately attempted to rescue his son after he fell.

“And immediately when I discovered he jumped down from the bike, I quickly pushed the bike aside and tried to grab his hand in order to save him but unfortunately, the flood water swept him away,” he said.

Maikasuwa, who serves as the Special Assistant to the council chairman on Domestic Affairs, said his son’s body had yet to be recovered as of the time of reporting.

He disclosed that fishermen and divers had been mobilised to search for the teenager.

“Actually, my son’s co**se is yet to be recovered, even though some residents whose houses are close to the river bank said they discovered the co**se with his school bag strapped to his back floating. We hope that the co**se will be recovered so we can give him a befitting buri@l,” he said.

Suspect Arrested Following Shooting at The Icehouse

On Saturday, September 5, 2026, at approximately 1:02 a.m., the Rosenberg Police Department responded to The Icehouse, located at 1315 Avenue I in Rosenberg, Fort Bend County, Texas, in reference to a weapons call.

The investigation began after officers received a report that a firearm had been discharged inside the bar. The caller reported that a physical altercation had occurred between two individuals. During the altercation, one individual produced a firearm and discharged it one time, striking the victim.

Rosenberg Police officers responded to the location and began an investigation into the incident. During the investigation, Detectives identified the suspect as Reynaldo Silva Najar (28), of Rosenberg, Texas.

Reynaldo Najar was recently released from custody after serving a sentence related to a 2021 homicide which occurred at 3226 Rychlik Dr, in Rosenberg.

On Tuesday, September 8, 2026, an arrest warrant was completed and signed for Najar for the offense of Aggravated Assault Deadly Weapon, a Second-Degree Felony, Bond: $750,000, Signed by 268th District Court, Judge Priesmeyer.

On Wednesday, September 9, 2026, at approximately 11:06 a.m., Rosenberg Police officers took Najar into custody without incident.

The investigation remains ongoing, and additional charges may be filed as more information becomes available.
