Today, I celebrate God's faithfulness and an incredible journey of serving others through mental health. Today is the 11th Anniversary of opening and launching my private practice in Katy, TX. Since Covid, I have been offering primarily virtual counseling, but blessed to still have my office to see my in-person clients when I’m in Texas! And this year marks 24 Years in the mental health field!

I am also celebrating 10 years as a Texas Board Approved Clinical Supervisor, during which I have had the honor of mentoring, training, and recommending five counselors-in-training for full licensure as Licensed Professional Counselors. Today, I continue that commitment by supervising and guiding three counselors-in-training as they work toward becoming fully licensed counselors.

What began as a calling has grown into a purpose-filled career dedicated to helping individuals heal, grow, and thrive.

I am honored to continue to serve through my practice, Pillar of Support Counseling and Wellness Services, PLLC, where I continue to provide evidence-based care while expanding into integrative and mind-body medicine services.

To every client who trusted me with your story and every supervisee I've had the privilege to mentor…thank you. As I look ahead, I'm excited for this next chapter of continuing to empower others, and make an even greater impact in the lives of those I serve.
Here's to many more years of healing, hope, and helping others become the healthiest version of themselves.

Deciding to begin the process of therapy can be met with some reservations for some, but the key is transparency and vulnerability. One of my favorite philosophical thinkers is Bell Hooks. Hooks saw vulnerability as essential for personal and collective healing. Whether dealing with trauma, broken relationships, or systemic oppression, she believed healing begins when people allow themselves to be vulnerable. I am receiving more and more requests from clients who are reaching out for the very first time. Don’t allow fear to overpower choosing yourself.

I could not let this month end without pausing to celebrate a major milestone: 10 years in private practice (23 years in the field)! On July 8th, Pillar of Support Counseling officially marked a decade of providing counseling services in the community. What a journey it has been! It has been an honor to walk alongside individuals and families as they heal and grow. God has been so good!

Even more exciting, Pillar of Support Counseling is evolving! We’re preparing to offer new and additional healing services that go beyond traditional talk therapy. I also can’t wait to share a new certification I’ve recently earned that will allow me to serve clients in even more meaningful ways - stay tuned! Here’s to 10 years and to everything that’s still to come!!

🌿 May is Mental Health Awareness Month 🌿

With the whirlwind of joy and excitement this month, I almost forgot to share something incredibly important. As a Licensed Professional Counselor with 23 years of helping through healing, I want to take a moment to honor and advocate for Mental Health Awareness Month.

Mental health is ‘health.’ If you prioritize your well-being, you're already on the path to healing and strength. And if you’re silently struggling…please know, you don’t have to do it alone. Help is out there, and we are available for you.

A few things:

✨ You are your biggest priority.
✨ You are not a burden.
✨ Seeking help is a courageous act.

The stigma around mental health is slowly but surely breaking. To all mental health providers, let’s keep that momentum going—by showing compassion, sharing resources, and supporting one another.

As a board approved licensed professional counselor Supervisor, I am now accepting new LPC-Associates. Also, Pillar of Support Counseling Services is always accepting new clients and expanding further to hire fully licensed professional counselors or LCSW’s.

Pillar of Support Counseling Services welcomes its new addition to the team! I wanted someone I could trust with great character, passion, and intrinsic motivation to work in mental health. He was my former intern and I am so blessed and excited for the work he does in the Therapist seat. He accepts United Healthcare, BCBS, and really soon Cigna. He works with adolescents (12+), Adults, and couples. If you live in the Katy/Houston or surrounding area we are here as your ‘pillar of support’ when you’re ready!

Some of the biggest challenges I witness as a therapist are:

1) Client’s pouring more time and energy into others, at the expense of neglecting themselves.

2) Client’s feeling overwhelmed due to the lack of boundary setting.

3) Self-loathing and lack of self-compassion

** Take these little nuggets and apply them to your life. In order to see sustainable change you have to practice daily. Peace and blessings ☮️🕊️
