Lab week done. Home from Marietta, GA after the hands-on portion of the pedorthic certification, hosted by Academy of Pedorthic Science at Shu-Re-Nu.

Thank you, Katy Vibes: Great Food, Bar & Live Music, for having us yesterday! 👟 I had a great time presenting "Choosing Appropriate Footwear," and instead of just talking about shoes, I brought a few along to show what to look for:

✔️ Stability comes in different forms. Brooks Running and Xelero each build support into the shoe in their own way, so the right pick depends on how your foot moves.
✔️ Seamless matters for sensitive feet. Anodyne’s seamless interior removes the stitching that can rub and cause sores, which is especially important for people with diabetes.
✔️ Easy on, easy off. Orthofeet slip-ons give solid support with no laces to tie, a big help for anyone whose arthritis makes laces a struggle.

Two more tips that apply to any shoe:

🔍 Check the construction, not the logo. A firm heel counter, a sole that bends at the ball of the foot (not the middle), and a roomy toe box matter more than the brand name.

📏 Get re-measured. Feet change over time, and many adults are still buying the size they wore years ago.
