First Care Medical will see patients of all ages for a variety of medical needs. When you've been to Get in, get out and get on with your life!

Make First Care Medical your first stop for all your medical needs! First Care Medical was established in Kearney in February 2005 and is locally owned and operated. Our professional and caring staff will see patients of all ages for a variety of medical needs, including minor injuries and acute illnesses. Patients are seen on a walk-in basis and no appointments are needed. First Care Medical strives to provide quality medical care in a timely manner allowing our patients to get back to the important things of life. Our medical staff consists of Physicians, Physicians Assistants and Nurse Practitioners. First Care accepts most private and commercial insurances as well as Medicaid and Medicare. Some of the services we porvide include: occupational health, respiratory infections, sore throat, fever, cough, allergies, ear aches, asthma, vomiting, abdominal pain, urinary infections, std’s, rashes, laceration repair, eye injuries, minor burns, sports injuries, sprains/strains, closed fractures, work-comp injuries, physicals, minor injuries, acute illnesses, in-house labs, in-house x-rays, minor procedures, and referrals. Let our professional and courteous staff make your life a little less complicated! Kearney Hours:
- Monday through Friday: 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM
- Saturday: 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM
- Sunday: 1:00 PM – 5:00 PM
(No appointments; walk-ins only)

🧼🫧 THE CLEAN HANDS CHALLENGE IS ON! 🫧🧼

Germs are tiny, but handwashing makes a BIG difference! 💪

We’re challenging our clinic team to show us their best handwashing skills for Global Handwashing Day! 🙌

🫧 Wash with soap and water for at least 20 seconds.
🫧 Scrub the palms, backs of hands, between fingers, and under nails.
🫧 Rinse well and dry with a clean towel.

👀 PINK EYE: WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW! 🩷

Red, itchy, watery eyes? It could be pink eye (conjunctivitis)! 👁️

🦠 Common symptoms:
• Redness in one or both eyes
• Itching, irritation, or a gritty feeling
• Watery or sticky discharge
• Crusting on the eyelids, especially in the morning

🤧 Is it contagious?
Viral and bacterial pink eye can spread easily. Allergies can cause similar symptoms but are NOT contagious!

🧼 How to help prevent the spread:
✔️ Wash hands frequently
✔️ Avoid rubbing your eyes
✔️ Don’t share towels, washcloths, or eye makeup
✔️ Avoid sharing eye drops
✔️ Clean discharge gently with a clean, damp washcloth

💊 Do you need antibiotics?
Not always! Viral pink eye won’t improve with antibiotics, and many mild cases get better on their own. Bacterial cases may sometimes need prescription treatment.

🚨 WHEN TO GET CHECKED:
Seek prompt medical evaluation for eye pain, light sensitivity, blurred vision that doesn’t clear with blinking or wiping away discharge, or significant eye redness. Contact lens wearers with a red eye should remove their lenses and get prompt evaluation.

🌡️ CHILD HAS A FEVER? KNOW THE BASICS! 👶💙

Fevers are common in kids and are often a sign their body is fighting an infection. But how do you know when it’s time to call the doctor?

🏡 WHAT YOU CAN DO AT HOME:
✅ Encourage plenty of fluids
✅ Let your child rest
✅ Dress them in lightweight clothing
✅ Use fever-reducing medicine only as directed for your child’s age and weight

🏥 🚩 RED FLAGS — WHEN TO SEEK MEDICAL CARE:
🔴 Under 3 months: Temperature of 100.4°F (38°C) or higher needs immediate medical evaluation.
🔴 Trouble breathing or breathing much faster than normal
🔴 Unusual sleepiness, confusion, or difficulty waking
🔴 Dehydration: Very little urine, dry mouth, or no tears
🔴 Stiff neck, seizure, or a rash that doesn’t fade when pressed
🔴 Persistent fever or a child who is getting worse or just isn’t acting like themselves

🚨 Call 911 for life-threatening symptoms, such as severe difficulty breathing or unresponsiveness.
