J.K. Nahale (middle) was Deputy Sheriff in North Kona, Hawaii Island during the reigns of HM King Kalakaua & HM Queen Liliuokalani. He outside his home here standing in the middle with Prince Kuhio on the right and an unidentified man on the left.

“He Mele No Kaʻeaikahelelani”
Performed at Lanikai (Kahalu’u, Kona) with Hālau Kaʻeaikahelelani, a Hawaiian cultural education based in the royal homelands of Keauhou-Kona. The song was composed by and sung by Grayden Haʻi-Kelly in honor of the sisters Kaʻea Lyons-Yglesias & Kahelelani Alohikea-Smith, both kumu of Hālau Kaʻeaikahelelani.

Each Friday (weather permitting), the sisters & their students (haumāna) host an authentic educational, descendant-led archaeological tour, alongside a farm-to-table dinner experience with ancient and modern hula all staffed and performed by members of the hālau.
