Celebrate International Dog Day with a 5 minute mindful walk (once it has cooled off this evening) to lift your mood and reduce anxiety. Take a slow loop, notice three things you hear, two things you see, and one thing you feel in your body. Keep your breath steady, walk at a comfortable pace, and check in with how your thoughts shift. Practicing this routine a few times a week can build calm and brighter moments in daily life. Willow Creek offers in person therapy in Keller, TX and telehealth across TX, AR, and FL. https://wix.to/tRcGmH0 🐾🌤️😀 . Please share how walking with a pet helps you and tag a friend who could use this.

Feeling overwhelmed in a family conversation or argument? Try this simple tool, label and breathe. First notice what you feel and name it out loud or in your head, for example I am feeling angry. Naming the emotion helps your brain move from reactive to thinking. Then try paced breathing, breathing in for four counts and out for six, for a few minutes. Slower, longer exhales calm your nervous system and make it easier to respond rather than react. Here is a quick example. If you notice anger rising during a talk with a family member, say I am feeling angry, step back for a moment if you can, and breathe slowly for a few minutes. You may find the intensity eases and conversation becomes calmer. Willow Creek Counseling helps teens, adults, couples, and families build emotional balance with practical, evidence based skills. We offer telehealth across TX, AR, and FL, and in person sessions in Keller. Learn more and schedule a visit https://wix.to/YsD9Vgf

Feeling overwhelmed as you prepare for the new school year? Try this four step micro exercise to downshift strong emotions: 1. Notice what you are feeling. 2. Name the emotion out loud or in your head. 3. Take five slow, steady breaths. 4. Choose a gentle next step, like stepping away or calling a trusted person. Labeling emotions helps lower physiological arousal, so you can think more clearly. If you want support building these skills, Willow Creek Counseling is here for you in Keller and via telehealth in TX, AR, and FL. https://wix.to/KeQK261

Want calmer conversations and more connection? Try one simple move, reflective listening. Listen, then repeat back what you heard before responding. Example: Partner A: I feel overwhelmed with the chores. Partner B: It sounds like you are feeling overwhelmed by the chores and need support. That short pause reduces defensiveness and helps you both feel heard. We bring this practical skill to couples and family therapy, with telehealth across Texas, Arkansas, and Florida, and in person in Keller. Ready to practice together?
