Roger Henry Hormann of Snow Lake, near Fremont, Indiana, passed away peacefully on May 31, 2026, at the age of 80 after a courageous battle with esophageal cancer. He was born in Fort Wayne, Indiana, on November 10, 1945, to the late Christ E. Hormann and Mary I. (Kirschner) Hormann.
Roger was a Navy veteran who went on to work for his father’s tree service business in Fort Wayne. He moved to Snow Lake in 1985 and worked a variety of jobs, including selling parts at Hires, selling docks, and later selling boats—all pursuits that kept him close to what he loved most: the water.
Roger was a fun-loving man with easy laughter, quick wit, and generous spirit. He never met a stranger and made people feel welcome. Whether he was spending time at the lake, sharing stories with friends, enjoying a day on the golf course, attending family gatherings, or simply making others smile, Roger lived life with enthusiasm and a genuine appreciation for the people around him.
Roger shared a loving marriage with his wife, Jane, whom he married in 1992. Together, they built a life centered on family and friendship and created countless cherished memories through their many adventures.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Christ and Mary Hormann; his grandson, Mitchell Lasley; and his brother, Kenneth Hormann.
He is survived by his sister, Arlene Flaig; his wife of 34 years, Jane Hormann; his daughters, Shanna Lasley (Neil) of Raleigh, North Carolina, and Mara Maynard of Edon, Ohio; his son, Tyler Strickler (Heather) of Carmel, Indiana; his granddaughters, Kennedy Lasley, Macey McKibbin, Sydney McKibbin, and Karley McKibbin; and his grandsons, Bradley Snyder and Laken Strickler.
Roger loved classic cars and was especially proud of his Harley trike. He enjoyed spending time with friends and family on the water, telling stories and making memories. His greatest pride was his family. He treasured every opportunity to live in the moment, creating memories that will live on for generations.
Those who knew Roger, will remember his infectious smile, his sense of humor and his love of adventure. While his absence leaves an immeasurable void, his legacy of love, laughter, and kindness will continue to live on in the hearts of family and friends.
Roger’s life will be celebrated with an open house at his residence on Snow Lake on Saturday, July 25, from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Wounded Warrior Project.
Roger will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
