Donna S. VanHorn, 87, of Kendallville, Indiana died Wednesday, September 9, 2026, at Parkview Noble Hospital in Kendallville, just one day before her 88th birthday.

She was born September 10, 1938, in Corunna, Indiana on the family farm to Willard and Gladys (Snyder) Stonebraker.

She was a 1956 graduate of Ashley High School.

On July 20, 1984, at Lake James in Steuben County, she married Michael A. VanHorn.

Donna had worked at Eckrich Meats in Fort Wayne for 25 years and in the office at Anderson Surveying in Fort Wayne.

Outside of work, Donna found joy in life’s simple pleasures. She was an avid Chicago Bears Fan. She loved gardening and took great delight in watching her flowers and plants grow, filling her home with beauty and warmth. She was also an avid reader who cherished the opportunity to escape into the pages of a good book. Donna especially enjoyed the companionship of her beloved cats, who brought her comfort, joy, and plenty of special moments. She shared many special times with family and friends.

Surviving are her husband, Michael VanHorn of Kendallville; two grandchildren, Amanda (Ryan) Dunn and Crystal Grate; three great-grandchildren, William Dunn, Albert Dunn, and Edward Dunn; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her son, Jeffrey Grate; and two brothers, John Stonebraker and Bill Stonebraker.

Visitation will be Monday, September 14, 2026, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Young Family Funeral Home, Kendallville Chapel, 222 South State Street, Kendallville.

Funeral services will also be on Monday at 12 p.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Regan Ford officiating.

Burial will follow in Fairfield Cemetery near Corunna.

Casketbearers will be Ryan Dunn, Fred Wright, Kris Wright, Rocky Lopez, Sam Stonebraker, Xavier Van Allen.

Preferred memorials are to the Humane Society of Noble County, 1305 Sherman Street, Kendallville, Indiana 46755.

David Lee Combs, 64, of Angola, Indiana died Wednesday, August 26, 2026, at his residence.

He was born January 15, 1962, in LaGrange, Indiana to Johnny and Joyce (Ritchie) Combs.

Mr. Combs honorably served in the U.S. Army from 1980 to 1985, a chapter of his life that reflected his dedication, strength, and commitment to serving his country. After his military service, he found joy in the simple comforts of home. He was a true homebody who enjoyed relaxing and spending his time watching war movies and Star Trek. He appreciated the stories, adventure, and camaraderie found in his favorite films and shows, and those quiet moments at home brought him great enjoyment.

Surviving are his companion, James T. Penland of Angola; two sons, Brandon (Danielle) Combs of LaGrange and Ben (Mary) Combs of Anderson; two grandsons, Kaleb Wadsworth and Braden Cunningham; a brother, Ronnie Joe (Jimmie Gail) Combs of LaGrange; two aunts, Lois Everage and Carolyn Owens both of Stroh; a niece, Kyia Combs; two nephews, Kyle Combs and Chris Combs; and his dog, Milo.

He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant brother, Johnny Darrell Combs; a sister, Delana Mann and a brother-in-law, Fred Mann.

Graveside services will be Friday, August 28, 2026, at 3 p.m. at Woodruff Cemetery, 5260 E 435 S, Wolcottville.

Young Family Funeral Home, Wolcottville Chapel, State Road 9 North, Wolcottville is assisting the family with arrangements.
