What an honor it was to receive the Kenedy Chamber of Commerce Business of the Year Award last night.
The truth is, this award isn't just mine.
It belongs to every family who has walked through the doors of The Speech Shed. The children, parents, grandparents, and caregivers I have the privilege of serving are the reason this place exists. You are the heart of The Speech Shed, and it is because of your trust and support that we have been able to grow.
This award belongs to my husband, too, our unofficial co-executive. 🥰 The Speech Shed started because he encouraged me to take the leap & follow my heart. Since then, he's been the one fixing plumbing issues, tackling floods, troubleshooting printers, hanging shelves, moving furniture, and handling a thousand things behind the scenes that keep this business running.
And it also belongs to the family and friends who have supported this dream from day one. You've helped move in, organize closets, build things, create things, volunteer your time, share posts to spread the word about services, cheer me on, and remind me why this work matters. Your love and support have carried me through every season.
As someone who grew up in Kenedy, there is something incredibly special about coming home and serving the families of the community that helped shape me. Being able to do what I love in the town I love is a gift I never take for granted.
Thank you to the Kenedy Chamber of Commerce for this recognition. I am so grateful and excited to continue serving children and families in our community for years to come.
