🏕️ Is your child excited for camp—but also feeling nervous?

Whether it's day camp or overnight camp, it's completely normal for kids to experience a mix of excitement and anxiety as summer approaches. New environments, unfamiliar faces, and time away from home can bring up a lot of emotions.

In our latest blog, Inspire therapist Ava Schenk, MSW, LSW shares tips for helping children navigate pre-camp nerves. Drawing from both her clinical experience and her years as a camper and counselor at Camp Chippewa, Ava offers practical strategies to help kids feel more confident and prepared for their summer adventures.

Some of her top tips include:
✨ Normalizing camp jitters
✨ Understanding homesickness
✨ Practicing independence before camp starts
✨ Focusing on the fun experiences ahead

Most importantly, camp can be an incredible opportunity for children to build confidence, resilience, and independence—even when it feels a little scary at first.

☀️ Summer isn’t just for vacations and family activities — it can also be a meaningful time to reconnect with your partner. 💛

During the school year, many couples find themselves in survival mode: busy schedules, sports, homework, work stress, exhaustion, and very little time to truly connect. Summer often brings a little more flexibility, longer evenings, and opportunities to slow down together.

This season can be a wonderful time to prioritize:
✨ Date nights
✨ Intentional conversations
✨ Reconnection and intimacy
✨ Stress reduction
✨ Strengthening communication
✨ Investing in your relationship

And just like we invest in our physical health, careers, or our children’s activities, relationships deserve support and care too. Counseling can be a powerful way to strengthen your connection, improve communication, and work through patterns that may be creating distance or stress.

Not sure your partner is open to couples counseling?

That’s more common than you think. The good news is: individual counseling is still a wonderful place to start.

When one person begins improving their communication, emotional awareness, coping skills, and relationship patterns, it often positively impacts the relationship as a whole. In many cases, one partner beginning therapy can even inspire the other partner to become more open to counseling too. 🌿

Healthy relationships are built intentionally — not perfectly.

At Inspire Counseling Center, we offer counseling and psychiatric medication services for individuals, couples, and families.

💛 This summer, invest in your peace, your growth, and your relationships too.

☀️ Summer is a great time to invest in your child’s mental health. 💛

We often fill summers with camps, sports, beach days, vacations, tutoring, and activities to help our kids grow — but emotional growth matters too.

Playing outside, getting fresh air, slowing down, and spending time in nature can do wonders for a child or teen’s well-being. And summer can also be the perfect season to support their mental health in a deeper way through counseling. 🌿

With less school stress and more flexible schedules, therapy can help kids and teens:
✨ Build confidence
✨ Learn coping skills for anxiety and stress
✨ Improve emotional regulation
✨ Strengthen social skills
✨ Process friendships, family, or school challenges
✨ Prepare emotionally for the next school year

The tools they learn now won’t just help them this fall — they can support them for life.

Mental health is not just something to focus on during a crisis. It’s something we can nurture proactively, just like physical health, learning, and personal growth.

At Inspire Counseling Center, we offer counseling and psychiatric medication services for children, teens, and families.

🌊 This summer, make space for sunshine, rest, growth… and emotional wellness too.

☀️ Summer camp and summer school can help kids grow… but so can counseling. 💛

Summer is often one of the BEST times to prioritize your child or teen’s mental health. With lighter schedules, less academic pressure, and more flexibility, kids and teens often have more emotional space to open up, build coping skills, and focus on their well-being.

Therapy can help children and teens:
✨ Manage anxiety and stress
✨ Build confidence and emotional resilience
✨ Improve social skills and friendships
✨ Process school or family challenges
✨ Strengthen coping skills before fall
✨ Improve mood, focus, and emotional regulation

Just like we invest in academics, sports, camps, and enrichment activities, mental health support is also an investment in your child’s future.

And the skills they learn in counseling now can help them feel more prepared and supported when the busy school year returns. 🍎

At Inspire Counseling Center, we offer counseling and psychiatric medication services for children, teens, and families. We have weekend (Saturday & Sunday) appointments as well as evening and weekday appointments to fit into your kids busy schedules!

🌿 Summer can be a season of growth — emotionally, too.
📍In-person & virtual appointments available.

☀️ This summer, find your path to peace.

Summer often gives us something we don’t always have during the rest of the year: a chance to slow down. Longer days, lighter schedules, vacations, sunshine, and more flexibility can create the perfect opportunity to check in with yourself and prioritize your mental health. 💛

What if this summer wasn’t just about staying busy…
but about healing, growing, and finding more peace?

✨ Summer can be a great time to:
• Work through anxiety or stress
• Improve your mental health habits
• Build healthier coping skills
• Strengthen relationships
• Process life transitions
• Reconnect with yourself
• Focus on personal growth and confidence

You do not have to wait until things feel overwhelming to seek support. Therapy and medication management can help you feel more grounded, balanced, and supported — both now and as you prepare for the busy seasons ahead.

At Inspire Counseling Center, we offer counseling and psychiatric medication services for children, teens, adults, and families.

🌿 Find time for yourself this summer.
🌿 Your peace matters too.

🎓 Heading to college this fall? You do NOT have to navigate the transition alone.

Starting college can bring excitement, freedom, and new opportunities — but it can also bring anxiety, homesickness, stress, pressure, loneliness, and overwhelm. And the truth is, many students struggle silently during this transition.

💛 Support matters.

At Inspire Counseling Center, we offer both counseling and psychiatric medication management to help students feel supported through major life changes, including:
✨ Anxiety & stress
✨ Social transitions
✨ Homesickness
✨ Academic pressure
✨ ADHD support
✨ Depression & mood changes
✨ Building confidence and coping skills

Summer is actually a GREAT time to get ahead before the fall transition begins. With more flexible schedules, students can:
✔️ Establish care and build a connection with a therapist
✔️ Review medications or mental health needs
✔️ Strengthen coping skills before stress increases
✔️ Create support systems before arriving on campus

Mental health support doesn’t have to wait until things feel overwhelming. Starting proactively can make a huge difference.

🎓 Dear Graduates: You do NOT need to have your whole life figured out right now.

Graduation season can bring excitement… but also pressure. Pressure to know your next steps, choose the “right” path, land the perfect job, or have a clear plan for your future.

Here’s your reminder:
✨ Most successful careers are winding paths, not straight lines.
✨ It’s okay if your plans change.
✨ You are allowed to grow, pivot, explore, and start over.
✨ Your worth is not measured by how quickly you “figure it out.”

The healthiest thing you can do right now isn’t having all the answers — it’s continuing to move forward, stay curious, learn, and trust yourself through the process.

Transitions can bring anxiety, uncertainty, comparison, and emotional overwhelm, even during happy milestones. Be gentle with yourself in this season.

💛 You are not behind.
💛 You are still becoming.
💛 And your mental health matters along the way.

🎓 Graduation parents -- we see you!

This season is full of big emotions — not just for students, but for parents too.

The closing of any chapter reminds us of how time is passing. Scrolling through pictures of your kids younger years, Prom and watching your once baby walk across the graduation stage can bring up a lot of emotions.

We’re here for you for of it. Here’s what we have to support you:

Between graduations, changing routines, summer transitions, and milestone moments, many parents find themselves feeling proud, emotional, overwhelmed, nostalgic… sometimes all at once. ❤️

The truth is: even positive transitions can feel like a lot for our mental health.

In our newest blog post, we’re sharing a “Graduation Survival Guide” for parents — including gentle reminders for navigating this season with more presence, self-compassion, and emotional balance.

✨ A few reminders:
• You can feel proud AND emotional
• Not every moment has to be perfect
• Change can bring grief, even when it’s good
• Your mental health matters too during transitions

Summer can also be a beautiful opportunity to slow down, reconnect, and care for yourself in new ways.

✨ Meet Our New Therapist: Hannah Rolighed, E.d.M ✨

We’re so excited to welcome Hannah to our Kenilworth office—especially as a Winnetka native returning to support the community she knows and loves 💛

Hannah works with children, adolescents, college students, young adults, parents, and families navigating anxiety, ADHD, emotional regulation, relationship challenges, grief, and more. With a background as a school counselor working with Pre-K through 12th grade, she brings a deep understanding of how to support kids and teens while partnering closely with families.

Hannah’s path to becoming a therapist is both professional and deeply personal. After the loss of a parent in her early twenties, she experienced firsthand the impact of having a steady, supportive space to process grief—an experience that now shapes the care and presence she offers her clients.

Her approach is warm, honest, and client-centered. She creates a space where you can show up as you are—without pressure or judgment—while working together to understand patterns, build skills, and move forward in a way that feels authentic and doable.
