The Quadratus Lumborum (QL) is a deep stabilizer muscle in the back, between the 12th rib and the iliac crest with insertions on L1-L5.
When this muscle is tight , it can causes irradiate pain on the buttock, pelvic and groin area, leg discrepancy , difficulty to breathe deep and sometimes spasms.
What causes these symptoms ?
*Sitting or standing for long ( drivers; office job; nurses; surgeons; sales associates, massage therapists ,etc)
* Repetitive side bending
* Carrying heavy bags or heavy children on the hip, etc
What to do ?
*Appropriate stretches
* Strengthening the core
* Massages
