“Beloved, I pray that all may go well with you and that you may be in good health, as it goes well with your soul.” — 3 John 1:2

God cares about the whole person. Body, soul, and spirit were never meant to be treated as completely separate pieces of our lives.

John’s prayer for Gaius beautifully reflects this desire for wholeness. He prays that his friend would be in good health even as his soul prospers. And notice where the foundation lies: a prospering soul. We can eat nourishing foods, exercise, prioritize sleep, and make healthier choices, but physical wellness was never meant to become our highest pursuit. Our deepest health begins with a life rooted in Christ.

From there, caring for our bodies becomes stewardship. Rest matters. Nourishment matters. Movement matters. Not because perfect health is the goal, but because our bodies have been entrusted to us and can help us love, serve, and live faithfully.

We do not have to choose between caring for the soul and caring for the body. Biblical health invites us to steward both while keeping Christ at the center.

“When the Spirit of truth comes, He will guide you into all the truth.” — John 16:13

We have more voices speaking into our lives than perhaps any generation before us. Social media influencers, podcasts, celebrities, wellness experts, and online personalities are constantly telling us what to believe, buy, eat, avoid, and pursue.

Some of those voices can be helpful. But none of them were meant to become our guide. Jesus promised His followers something far better. The Holy Spirit would dwell within them and lead them into truth. We do not have to build our lives around the opinions of people who may feel familiar to us online but do not actually know us.

This matters in our health choices, too. The low-tox and wellness worlds can become especially noisy. One person says an ingredient is dangerous. Another insists we need a certain supplement. Before long, trying to make the “right” choices can become overwhelming. We can pause, return to Scripture, pray, and ask whether we are following the crowd or listening to the Spirit.

No influencer, expert, or algorithm can replace the Spirit of truth.

“But even if we or an angel from heaven should preach to you a gospel contrary to the one we preached to you, let him be accursed.” — Galatians 1:8

We live in a world full of messages promising a better life, better health, and greater freedom. Paul reminds us that not every message that sounds good is rooted in truth.

There is only one gospel, the good news of salvation by grace through faith in Jesus Christ. We do not earn salvation through perfect habits, the right diet, or flawless health choices. But because we belong to Christ, His truth should shape how we live. Caring for our bodies becomes an act of stewardship rather than a means of earning God’s favor. We can reject both legalism that makes health an idol and permissiveness that tells us our choices do not matter.

The gospel sets us free to pursue health with grace, wisdom, and holiness, while keeping Jesus at the center.

What voices are shaping your choices today? Hold every message up to the truth of God’s Word.

“I came that they may have life and have it abundantly.” — John 10:10

Jesus did not come so we could simply survive. He came to give us abundant life.

But abundance does not mean perfect health, perfect circumstances, or getting everything we want. It is the fullness found in Christ, a life marked by purpose, peace, joy, and freedom. That changes how we think about caring for our bodies, too. Rest, nourishing food, self-control, and healthy rhythms are not meant to become another list of rules. They can help us remove habits that drain us and steward our strength for what matters most.

And even in seasons of sickness or physical limitation, abundant life is still available. Its source has never been perfect health. Its source is Jesus.

The Good Shepherd came to give life to the full. Our invitation is to follow His voice.

Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men. — Colossians 3:23 🤍

Today we honor the work...seen and unseen.

The long days, the quiet faithfulness, the serving, providing, and showing up when no one’s clapping.

It all matters to God.

Whether your hands are in the home, at a job, or somewhere in between… your work has purpose when it’s done for Him.

Happy Labor Day 🤍

“Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, whom you have from God?” — 1 Corinthians 6:19

What if caring for your body became less about appearance and more about worship?

Paul reminded the Corinthians that their bodies were no longer simply their own. God’s Spirit dwelled within them, which meant their everyday choices mattered. That truth can reshape the way we think about Biblical health, too. What we eat, how we rest, the habits we cultivate, and what we allow into our bodies can all reflect how we steward what God has entrusted to us.

We are not pursuing perfect health, obsessing over every ingredient, or trying to earn God’s approval. We care for our bodies because we belong to Him.

Sometimes worship looks like a song. Sometimes it looks like caring well for the temple He gave you.
