One thing I wish more people understood about birth prep:
baby positioning and pelvic balance matter. A lot.

When the pelvis is balanced and baby is in an optimal position, labor often has an easier time progressing naturally.

This doesn’t mean “perfect position = perfect birth.”
Birth is nuanced.
But tension patterns, pelvic imbalance, and fetal positioning can absolutely influence comfort, pressure, engagement, and labor progression.

In my practice, I work with pregnant patients on:
• pelvic mobility
• soft tissue tension
• posture and movement patterns
• nervous system regulation
• creating space for baby to move optimally

The goal is not to “force” a baby into position.
The goal is to support the body so baby has the ability to find the best position possible.

This is where collaborative care matters so much between OBs, midwives, pelvic floor PTs, chiropractors, doulas, and lactation professionals.

Pregnancy and birth outcomes improve when providers work together instead of in silos. 🤍 Who was part of your birth team?
Did you see more than one provider during your pregnancy?

Becoming a mother myself is truly what led to the creation of The River Of Life Chiropractic Center.
My own experiences through pregnancy, postpartum, breastfeeding, healing, and learning to trust myself became the driving force behind the care I now provide to other women and families.

This work is deeply personal to me.
Every mother who has trusted me with her care — through chiropractic, lactation support, birth preparation, postpartum recovery, or doula support — has become part of this journey and part of this community. I never take that trust lightly.

Today I am celebrating the mothers rocking babies, growing babies, missing babies, praying for babies, healing after loss, navigating infertility, and showing up every single day even when it feels heavy.

To the mothers in the trenches right now — I see you.
I am holding space for you today too.

Motherhood can look so many different ways, but every story deserves compassion, support, and care.

Happy Mother’s Day to all the incredible mothers and women I have had the honor of walking alongside. 🤍

Hey, Dr. Charlotte here 🤍

Earlier this week I shared a reel about birth choices…
and it’s really been on my mind.

So I’ve decided to start a mini-series —
focused on education and evidence-based information —

so you can feel confident in your choices.

Because remember…
there isn’t one perfect birth choice —
👉 there are informed choices.

And that brings us to our first topic…

👉 induction.
Because this has become a really big conversation in the birth world.
And I know how stressful and anxiety-provoking it can feel
when that word is brought up.

Especially if you’ve been online…
You’ve probably seen both sides.
Some really positive stories —
and some really difficult ones.

And it can leave you wondering…

👉 “What would this look like for me?”

But here’s what I want you to remember…
👉 Birth is not one-size-fits-all.
Birth is about context.
Your body.
Your baby.
Your medical history.
Your current situation.
And your values.

All of those things are unique to you.

So when something feels confusing or overwhelming…
one of the most helpful things we can do is come back to:
👉 understanding.

Looking at the evidence.
Understanding what induction actually is.
And understanding the factors that influence how it can unfold.

So if induction has been brought up for you…

Stay tuned.

One provider. Every stage.
Because care shouldn’t start and stop.

One of the biggest things I teach my clients is this:
There is rarely only one “right” decision in birth.

What matters is understanding the context — your body, your baby, your medical history, and your goals.

When parents understand their options, fear decreases and confidence grows.

That’s why education is such an important part of prenatal care.

What is one birth topic you wish providers explained more clearly? 👇

Did you know the uterus is literally suspended by ligaments?

Round ligaments are like the “suspenders” of the uterus.

They connect the uterus to the pelvis and help support baby’s growing home during pregnancy.

When tension develops in the pelvis or surrounding tissues, it can influence how the uterus sits — and how baby positions inside.

Gentle prenatal chiropractic care focuses on reducing pelvic tension and supporting balanced biomechanics, giving baby space to move into an optimal position for birth.

Most pregnant women don’t realize that baby positioning starts long before labor… and it has a lot to do with pelvic balance.

But actually — positioning develops gradually throughout pregnancy.

As baby grows, they respond to the shape and available space inside the uterus, which is influenced by:
• Pelvic shape
• Muscle tone
• Ligament tension
• Maternal posture and movement patterns

Research in maternal-fetal biomechanics shows that the uterus is not just a passive container — it’s influenced by the surrounding structures of the pelvis and soft tissues.

So when we talk about “optimal positioning,” we’re really talking about balanced space and mobility within the pelvis and surrounding tissues.

If you’re pregnant and experiencing:
• Ongoing pelvic discomfort
• One-sided tension
• Round ligament pain
• Trouble getting comfortable
• Or just want your body functioning as smoothly as possible

This is exactly the kind of thing we evaluate individually.

Before I became a perinatal chiropractor.
Before I became an IBCLC.
Before I supported women as a doula…

I was just a pregnant mom trying to figure it out.

I remember the hip pain.
The rib pressure.
The sleepless nights.
The uncertainty.
And I remember walking into my chiropractor’s office while pregnant and thinking,
“Why isn't everyone being told about the benefit of chiropractic care during pregnancy?”

As well as "how is anyone going through this without getting adjusted!"
The relief.
The balance.
The feeling of my body working with my pregnancy instead of against it.

Then breastfeeding.
No one talks about how vulnerable those early days are.
The tears.
The cracked ni***es.
The “Is my baby getting enough?” panic at 2am.

An IBCLC changed everything for me.
Not just with positioning — but with confidence.

And at both of my births, I had a doula.
Someone steady.
Someone calm.
Someone who reminded me I wasn’t alone.
That support changed my birth experiences in ways I still carry with me.

That’s why The River of Life isn’t just a clinic.
It’s personal.
Because I know what it feels like to:
• Hurt during pregnancy
• Question your body
• Feel overwhelmed feeding your baby
• Want a birth you feel proud of

I built this space to be what I needed when I was in that season.
If you’re pregnant, postpartum, or preparing for birth —
You don’t have to do it alone.

Send me a DM and let’s talk about how we can support you.
