Mid run ramblings at Red Top.
Pretty much all I say is that your actions can speak louder than your words…..and I’m saying this from a point of parenting.
Also. Don’t hear what I’m not saying. Cause I just did a video a few weeks ago about the power of life and death are in your words……..🤔

TENSION - on this version of road run ramblings (from last week).
The biggest takeaway from this is that I’ve realized that folks don’t realize what it means to relax. To not hold tension. Not only in running but in life too.
So here’s to releasing some tension. And maybe adding some adjustments 😘

Oh April! I’m liking the “7️⃣” theme.
“Keep showing up”. This has been on my heart for several years. This has been what the Lord has wanted me to do. Owning a business. Raising children. Living in this productivity driven world. This “bigger is better” world. This “always need more” world. And the Lord has just told me “keep showing up”.
I don’t have to strive and produce and control.
So this recovering “people pleaser, type A, productivity driven Capricorn” is releasing control, releasing the outcome and JUST SHOWING UP 🙌
I told my therapist that this is the only thing I’ve been hearing from the Lord for a while and she said “isn’t that beautiful” ❤️

How about some post race ramblings!! Welcome to the squirrel brain train of thoughts I had on my run during my most recent trail race.
It’s all about setting an intention, staying present, ruminating, opening up in the downhills, coming back to presence, being equipped, and showing up

Beautiful day for a trail race 🙌 the rain held off (although I prefer running in the rain!), got to run the updated course for this race (I love running out here -I’ll have to do another post on why I love this place), see some running friends who helped me push my pace a bit, snagged 2nd overall female, and got another duck for the jeep 😍
I was very acutely aware of how much I love this sport during today’s race. It’s so individual. It’s me against the clock. Against myself. But yet, I use runners on race day. Not to try and beat them (I mean yes but no) but to use them to push myself. Some races I can be all alone. Today was fun cause there were 4 of us all around the same pace. For a while I was using them to pull me along. Towards the end I was trying to push the pace and bring them with them. Using them to push myself. It’s so much fun!!
And there’s a lot of regulars who run the races so I recognized this pack of runners I was with. And it made all the more fun ❤️

Happy Boston Marathon day!! Did some road miles this morning wearing my Boston shirt from 2015 🙌
What an experience. The month after I started chiropractic school, I ran a 3:19 at the Seven Bridges marathon in Chattanooga. Decided to go ahead and apply for Boston which honestly was never really on my radar until my father in law was talking about it. Got in and I remember running the race, flying back asap and going straight to a 7th quarter class 😬🥴 what a whirlwind. I’m not sure I could do it again - qualify or run it 😂. So very grateful for the experience and for the gals who went with me ❤️❤️ and honestly the only thing that comes to mind as I look back on it is “damn, I’m so glad I tried”.

Join me as I mentally unpack my running career of 37 years - more post run ramblings. Brought to you today by Red Top Mtn once again. And a sweet raccoon (not pictured here) that I came across.
Proverbs 18:21.
Side notes that didn’t make it into the video (cause if it doesn’t cross my mind in the one take of the video I do, it wasn’t meant to be in it cause I don’t know how to do all those editing things). One of my prayers for my kids is that they are surrounded by mentors who see them and speak life into them. To help them see what maybe they don’t or can’t. To help them see their potential. Outside of family. That’s how I pray Proverbs 18:21 into their life.

Just had the chance to look over the March stats. Once again, I’m surprised at how little I ran - compared to other months 🤔 but the cross training activities (weight lifting and walking) remained pretty steady. I honestly haven’t had a big race to train for in several years. Or really a running goal (miles per month, races per year, etc). Kinda just in the flow of staying race ready - that if a half marathon pops up that I want to do, I can go do it and not feel like death. Won’t PR but that’s not always the goal. So maybe that’s what these stats show ❤️ and maybe I need to push myself and sign up for something to train for 🥴
Also - background pic is Cooper River Bridge 🙌 I ran over that!!
