This week, residents at our Health Centers welcomed a very special visitor: a retired racehorse with a new, meaningful mission. While it may seem unusual to see a horse indoors rather than out in a field, therapy horses are carefully trained to be calm, gentle, and comfortable around people. This sweet horse, named Aloha, loves human connection, and his job now is to bring comfort, joy, and companionship to those who need it most. The smiles, conversations, and heartfelt memories he inspired throughout our Health Center were truly priceless. Many residents were once veterinarians, equestrians, or had horses in their youth. We are grateful for opportunities like this that enrich residents' lives and remind us of the powerful bond between people and animals. Oh, and the children in our Early Learning Center enjoyed the visit too. We were delighted to welcome 18 students from The Garage Community Youth Center for a special day of learning, discovery, and connection. The students had the opportunity to hear about a variety of career paths, ask questions, and gain valuable insights into the many possibilities that await them. One of the highlights of the visit was hearing from a resident, who shared what it's like to live here and reflected on the meaningful relationships they have built with staff members. Their heartfelt story gave students a unique perspective on the positive impact that compassionate caregivers and dedicated staff can have on others' lives.
