Healthy Aging Month is about celebrating ways to stay active!💃

When the community at StoryPoint Kalamazoo asked Rachel Benn, PTA/DOR, to lead a Zumba class, she was excited to make it happen. Rachel became a Zumba instructor and hosted her very first class this week! 🎉

By bringing movement, music, and fun together, Rachel helped create an opportunity for the community to stay active while enjoying time together.

Here’s to healthy aging, trying new things, and finding joy in every step! 💙

Sometimes, getting back to the things you love is the best measure of progress. 💙

After he retired, Mr. Marnin started taking it easier, but he's been facing a few physical challenges. He's finding it harder to keep his balance and deals with constant neck and knee pain. He's also been struggling a bit with swallowing, and he still has weakness in his left arm from an earlier stroke.

When Mr. Marnin arrived at Juniper Village at Williamstown, he was determined to get stronger. He gave his all during every physical, occupational, and speech therapy session, often arriving at the therapy gym first thing in the morning and ready to work.

His hard work paid off. Today, Mr. Marnin is swallowing comfortably, using his left arm with greater ease, and moving around with much more confidence.

And perhaps one of his favorite milestones? Being able to walk through the Dollar Store with his cane and reach the top shelf for his favorite Necco Wafers.

Mr. Marnin’s story is a reminder that recovery isn’t just about improving physical abilities. It’s about getting back to the everyday moments that make life enjoyable.

Our Regulatory & Compliance team plays a vital role in helping Powerback navigate an ever-changing healthcare landscape. From interpreting complex regulations and identifying potential risks to supporting our clinical and operational teams, their expertise helps create a stronger foundation for quality care.

As Ami Faria, VP of Regulatory & Compliance, puts it:

“From a customer perspective, having a dedicated regulatory and compliance team of experts in the field is vital because it assures them that Powerback is a partner they can trust.”

That expertise helps ensure our clinical operations stay aligned with evolving healthcare standards while supporting our clinicians in delivering best-in-class care.

Meet Froggy ! 💙

After a fall at home left Roberta, affectionately known as "Froggy" with a broken leg and broken arm, she came to Harbor Hill Center needing significant help with everyday activities. At first, she felt nervous about therapy and would get lightheaded when trying new things.

But Froggy didn’t let those challenges stop her.

With encouragement from her therapy team and plenty of hard work, she went from needing a lift to get out of bed to walking with a walker, then a cane, and eventually walking around her room without any equipment. She regained her ability to manage stairs and learned new strategies for getting in and out of a car, all in preparation to return home.

Her journey wasn’t always easy. She experienced complications with her arm along the way, but she continued working toward her goals and finding ways to adapt.

Froggy credits her therapy team with helping her push through those early challenges. “I stopped feeling sorry for myself and decided that therapists were right and just did it.”

Her therapists even found ways to make therapy feel like a game, keeping her challenged, motivated, and having fun along the way.

We’re incredibly proud of Froggy’s determination, competitive spirit, and incredible progress. Her story is a reminder that sometimes the biggest victories come from simply deciding to keep going. 💙
