⚠️ AIR QUALITY ALERT EXTENDED ⚠️
Canadian wildfire smoke will continue to produce poor air quality in West Michigan (and many other areas) through the weekend.
Wildfire smoke contains tiny particles that can irritate your eyes and lungs, causing coughing, wheezing, shortness of breath, and fatigue. People with asthma, COPD, heart disease, children, older adults, and pregnant people are at greater risk.
Protect yourself:
➡️ Stay indoors when possible. Keep windows and doors closed, run your A/C on the recirculate setting, and use a MERV-13+ filter or portable air purifier. Avoid smoking, burning candles, or frying food, which can worsen indoor air quality.
➡️ If you need to be outside, limit your time outdoors, avoid strenuous activity, and wear a well-fitting NIOSH-approved N95 mask when smoke levels are high.
➡️ Seek medical care immediately if you experience chest pain or severe trouble breathing.
