Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for Thou art with me; Thy rod and Thy staff they comfort me. Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies; Thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.”

Natividad "Nati" Sweetser

It is with the deepest sorrow that the family of Natividad “Nati” Sweetser, aged 83, announces her passing in the early morning of May 20, 2026.

Known lovingly to many as “Nati,” she was born on June 23, 1942, in (Las Marías) Mayagüez, Puerto Rico, to the late Carmen (nee Miranda) and Pablo Irizarry. As a teenager, she followed her father to the mainland United States, first spending a brief time in New York City before eventually making her way to New Jersey and later settling in Stone Ridge, where she built the life and family for which she became so deeply known and loved. Her Puerto Rican roots remained central to who she was throughout her life, especially through her cooking, music, language, and deep sense of family and community.

Earlier in her life, Nati worked for many years as a factory seamstress, skills she carried naturally into her home life through sewing countless handmade comforts for those around her. She later devoted much of her life to home and childcare work with families in Monticello and Rhinebeck, NY.

Outside of work, Nati found joy in gardening, dancing, music, sewing, barbecues, and time spent with family and friends. She loved Spanish music, lively gatherings, and cooking for the people she loved. Her Spanish rice, lasagna, and pasteles became signature dishes remembered by generations of family and friends. She also enjoyed crabbing when she could and appreciated the simple peace of being outdoors near the water.

Her faith remained important throughout her life, and when her health allowed, she attended Our Lady of Lourdes Church.

Earlier in her life, she shared and raised a family with the late Ricardo Rivera, with whom she had her children Yolanda “Yoli” Lopez and her husband Edwin of Humacao, Puerto Rico; Ricardo “Macho” Rivera of Tampa, FL; Alejandro “Alex” Rivera and his wife Melanie of Brandon, FL; and Jilberto “Bert” Rivera of Tampa, FL.

In 1986, she married Lawrence Graham “Major” Sweetser in Nutley, NJ, and together they welcomed Lawrence Graham “Larry” Sweetser Jr. of Austin, TX.

She has been reunited in passing with her husband, Lawrence; and her brothers; Pablo Irizarry Jr. and Manuel “Neco” Irizarry.

She was also a beloved grandmother to 15 grandchildren and a cherished great-grandmother to 11 great-grandchildren.

Natividad is also survived by her siblings Antonio Irizzary, Angel Luis “Wichi” Irizarry, Eneida Holster, Grace Gonzalez, Millagro Irizarry, Rene Irizarry, Rosa Flecha, and Sol Maria Diaz, along with many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dearest friends.

Nati will be remembered for her resilience, generosity, laughter, cooking, music, and the way she brought people together.

Visitation will take place on Tuesday, May 26, 2026, at 9:00 AM - 12:00 PM, at Humiston Funeral Home, 30 42nd Street, Kerhonkson, NY 12446.

A funeral home service will take place at 11:00 AM; Father Ken Riello will officiate.

She will be laid to rest alongside her beloved husband in Fairview Cemetery in Stone Ridge, following the services at the funeral home.

Father Ken Riello, from Our Lady of Lourdes will officiate the services at the cemetery.

Arrangements are under the care of Humiston Funeral Home; on behalf of the staff, we extend our heartfelt condolences to the family and friends during this time of loss. It has been our honor to serve and support you as you celebrate a life so deeply loved and warmly remembered. May cherished memories bring comfort, and may you find strength in the love of family, the support of friends, and the lasting legacy left behind.

Elizabeth Jean Smith-Milewski

Elizabeth Jean Smith Milewski, 62, passed away on March 25, 2026, after a courageous battle with cancer.

She was born on May 7, 1963, in Cragsmoor, New York. Arriving at home and eager to enter the world, her parents, Raymond and Joyce Smith, knew from the very beginning that she was going to be someone special and she truly was to everyone who knew and loved her.

Elizabeth was a graduate of the Ellenville Central School District and went on to earn a degree in Criminal Justice from SUNY Orange. She retired this year after 20 dedicated years with Questar III BOCES. Throughout her career, she has touched the lives of countless students and colleagues, and she will be remembered for the care, kindness, and positive influence she brought to all fortunate enough to know her.

Elizabeth enjoyed a good cold IPA, cheering on the Dallas Cowboys, and making memories on Disney trips. She had an infectious smile, a deep love for life, and a way of bringing joy wherever she went.

Above all else, Elizabeth’s greatest joy was being a mother and Babcia to her beloved grandchildren, Emersyn and Cooper. They were the light of her life.

Smith; her sister, Terri (Bob) Ray; her niece, Heather (Joe) Ray; her nephew, Christopher (Nicole) Ray, Sr.; her great-niece, Olivia Ray; her great-nephew, Christopher Ray, Jr.; her uncle and aunt, Bruce (Ann) Bowler; her cousins, Erin Dwyer and Michelle Dooley; and her faithful fury sidekick, Bocepheus.

To honor Elizabeth’s wishes, there will be no funeral services. Family and friends are encouraged to celebrate her life in their own special way. Raise a cold beer, cheer on the Cowboys, enjoy a Disney adventure, or simply share a story and a laugh in her memory. Elizabeth’s spirit will live on in the hearts of all who loved her.

Humiston Funeral Home is honored to handle the arrangements and extends heartfelt condolences to Elizabeth’s family and all who loved her.

May the love she shared and the memories you hold close bring you comfort in the days ahead, and may her legacy continue to shine through everyone whose life she touched.

James Thomas Campbell

In Loving Memory of

James Thomas Campbell February 25, 1949 ~~ March 28, 2026

James Thomas Campbell (Jimmy) passed away on March 28th with his kids by his side and love in his heart. He was 77 years old.

He was born in Manhattan in 1949 to Agnes and Thomas Campbell Sr. (both pre-deceased) and had a big family including 7 brothers and sisters; Margaret “Penny”, Kathy (pre-deceased), Joanne, Thomas, Debbie (pre-deceased), Robert (“Murph”); many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and relatives.

He had three beautiful children, Jessica (Brad), Michael (Ashley), and Kathleen (Nick); and 5 amazing grandchildren: Madison, Veronica, Max, Joseph, and Zoe, who were the light of his life.

Over the years, he had residences in Miami Beach, Florida and Upstate New York. Jim worked in the construction sector, did traffic control flagging, and bar tended for fun for years. He loved having a good time, jamming live music with his buddies, being with family and friends, laughing and having a good time with his grands, rooting on Notre Dame Football, Yankees Baseball, The NY Giants, watching NASCAR, and watching his children and grandchildren enjoy life. Jim was a humble, easy going guy who greeted everyone he met with a warm welcome or funny story. He will be sorely missed each and every day. He was always quick to offer a Dad joke or see the light in a tough situation. He liked black tee shirts with his favorite classic Chevrolet vehicles on them and comfortable jeans.

One of his last wishes was to get to the ocean and see the sunset. He offered that in remembrance, he’d like everyone to try to experience that, take a deep breath, and marvel at the calm waters. His family hopes you all find your way to a sunset-lit ocean in his honor. He’d like that very much.

The Family is hosting a small Remembrance Celebration of Life on April 10th, 2026 at the Kerhonkson Firehouse, 333 Main St. Kerhonkson, NY 12446 from 4pm-7pm in Jim’s honor. Friends welcome.
