I have a puppy for adoption!!
Settle in….its a long story…
Bingley wandered up to my house several months ago. I found him on my back porch at 11 o’clock one night. He was terrified and hungry. I suspect someone dumped him in the woods behind my house.
For the first week he appeared healthy; however, he woke up one morning with a 105 fever and so painful he couldn’t stand.
It took us several days to work through it but we diagnosed him with HOD (hypertrophic osteodystrophy). HOD is an extremely rare inflammatory disease that affects young dogs and decreases the blood flow to certain parts of the bone. Bingley’s case was quite severe and also caused severe facial swelling and jaw pain. HOD is treated with hospitalization, intravenous fluid therapy and aggressive pain management. Bingley is the first case I have seen in 20 years and only Dr. Tart’s second!
The staff diligently cared for him. He had to be rotated from side to side in his house and carried out to potty for a week. It was very difficult to watch, but that little bo**er slowly started turning the corner!
Once he recovered after several weeks, we were able to neuter him (sorry, Bingley) and continue his vaccinations.
Unfortunately, I cannot keep him because one of my dogs has it out for Bingley.
Now… Bingley has some quirks… he has resource guarded a few times with the staff at feeding time. He has never tried anything with me, but he is a kid that I recommend feeding in his crate and leaving him be to eat in peace. We are also still working on potty training. He came to me at about 6 months of age and then was on very high doses of steroids to treat his HOD. I know the steroids contributed to his difficulties with potty training.
I cannot speak to his behavior around cats or children. He got along fine with one of my dogs he is just lacking in social skills.
He is most likely full grown and is about 30 #.
